Food was ok, but I was not wowed by any means. Service on the other hand, was not very good. Let's start off by saying I KNOW nobody wants work nowadays. But, we spent the weekend in Durango, and ate in several places in 3 days. This place just had really bad service overall. After about a 15-20 minute wait (not an issue) non server handed us menus, and pointed to a table that would seat 8-10, for my wife and to sit at, and said go ahead you can sit there. I said it's juat the 2 of us, he replies that it ia the only available table. Ok, no problem, we'll take it. The table is dirty, no one has cleaned in the 20 minutes we stood waiting for a table. Ok, still no problem. We waited for another 15 minutes, as several servers passed by us many times. That's when I figured that the wait staff probably think someone else is helping us, so I mentioned it to one as they were passing by. The response was "give us a minute as we are under staffed". I said, " hey I understand, just wanted someone to know just in case everyone thinks that someone else is waiting on us". Finally someone comes over and asks us if we would like something to drink. We place our drink orders, and ask if they will wipe down the table for us. They do wipe it down and bring out drinks. About this time another couple are conversing with the wait staff, and then get up and leave. They told us they had been there 45 minutes, and their meal had not even been started, so they left. Wow! So our meal did show up, and it was made fresh and hot. Took some time to finally be served, bit still ok, we understand. As the server was handing us out plates, I ended up spilling half of my 8 dollar glass of OJ, the server brought me some napkins so I could clean it up myself. She didn't offer to do it, nor offer to top of my glass. Ok, so it was my fault, but really? Well, we finished our meal and bought a pastry to take back to the room for later. For 60 bucks at breakfast, I expected a lot more. I would not eat here again, but I would stop and buy the baked goods for sure. 3 stars for food, 1 star for service. Not worth all the wait for us. Like I stated, other places we ate at were also short staffed. But they were able to help us and we spent less time and money in the other restaurants over...
Read moreI honestly can’t make a fair judgement about the quality of the food, but I can tell you that I have rarely walked out of a restaurant due to rude service, but today was an exception. My husband and I stopped in today 20-Septembre-2024 shortly after noon. The sign clearly read, wait to be seated, and so we did. A couple of minutes went by and a sloppily dressed male gruffly asked, how many, and I signaled 2. (My husband and I are celebrating our 50th Anniversary, and since I’m French, we thought this might be nice…) He grabbed some menus and tossed them onto a table as he walked by, and my husband, who is not used to rude people, continued following the “waiter?” I called him back and he headed to the men’s room while I waited to order drinks. Before my husband returned the “waiter” came back with two glasses of water and roughly dropped them onto the table, asking for our drink order, sort of… I expressed that water was fine for me but my husband might like sparkling or clu… and he left before I could get the words out. He comes back with a tiny bottle of Perrier, saying that is all they have… and again he left… Points to note: It’s lunchtime… The restaurant was not full… I was as always, extremely polite… but he was really pushing my limits. My husband came back and I said, “Babe, the waiter is beyond short and far past rude… I’m not willing to let you drop $100 for lunch to be treated as if we’re second rate citizens.” We got up and left. I walked down the street and asked for recommendations for lunch. I also wasn’t surprised to hear that “Jean-Pierre’s,” was not only NOT recommended, but we were advised to steer clear. Three shops. Same comments. At 2:30 I returned and asked to speak with the manager. The Asian woman brusquely told me the manager was preparing to go home for the day and refused to inform them that I wanted to speak with them. We left again. I’m not sure how you survive in the high stakes of the restaurant business, with such disregard for your customers. We won’t try again. But we will continue to tell others about our experience. The little Mexican Restaurant we finally settled on, was extremely welcoming. Thank goodness...
Read moreVisited Durango Colorado and stopped here for breakfast. Wow do they have a selection for goodies! I loved the old time saloon feel. Building has wood floors that creek as you step when you 1st walk in. My eyes were drawn to the beautiful ceilings. Their ceilings are wood with vigas across the top. When we entered there was a gentleman playing the piano and we were greeted with a " Good morning, breakfast for two?" Which we replied yes please. He advised us that we could sit where ever we would like...the restaurant was pretty empty as we were there early. We chose to go into the second room off the right of the entrance which seemed a lot newer because the floors were time however the wood ceiling still continued in here. This part had quite a bit of tables along with a little bar you could sit at if you'd like. We sat near the window in these chairs with huge backs.. the kind you picture in the tv show Game of Thrones 😁 The menu wasn't huge but it had a good selection of food. I ordered the eggs Benedict which was on an open faced croissant instead of the usual English muffin. This was so good and recommended. My buddy ordered a side of sausage and I have to say I don't know what kind of sausage it was but it was the best sausage I have ever tasted. I should have asked 😕. I did observe they had a third room tucked away which I'm assuming may be for reservations or bigger parties. All in all I really enjoyed the ambiance and decoration of this place. I do have to admit that the prices are VERY high here. I'm assuming because they're in the middle of downtown. Our meal consisted of 2 orders of eggs Benedict which were over $19.00 each, a side of sausage, a tart and a slice of Boston cream pie and total was over $60.00. If you're on a budget..do not go here as you will spend some cash. If that does not matter then give it...
