🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 What an unforgettable adventure! We did the round-trip ride from Durango to Silverton and it was truly spectacular. Yes — it’s a long day (about 3.5 hours each way with a 2-hour break in Silverton), but totally worth it! 🚂💨

The views along the ride are absolutely breathtaking — mountains, rivers, forests — every turn of the track feels like a postcard. 🏞️✨ The train itself has such a charming old-time feel, and it's incredibly relaxing just watching the world go by. 🎶

Silverton is a gem — an old mining town full of cute shops, fun cafés, and that rustic mountain-town vibe. We loved exploring during our break.

💡 Traveler Tips:

If you have young kids, consider a shorter version of the ride — the full round-trip might be too long for them.

Bring snacks and water — it’s a long ride and you’ll want to stay comfy.

Get your camera ready — photo ops everywhere!

Would absolutely do it again. One of the highlights of our...

An unforgettable experience and truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. It really is great for all ages so bring your loved ones to enjoy this together. Please do yourself a favor and book the tickets!

Also wanted to add that you will be parking in the gravel parking lot right before McDonald’s. We almost missed the train because google maps will take you directly to the train station so we had to turn around and find the parking area. If you already paid for parking just give them your first and last name. You are able to keep your vehicle there all day so definitely recommend after the train walking around the shops and grabbing a bite to eat.

This was the absolute best! Especially Holly our attendant on the train. She was so kind, taught us a lot and was extremely helpful. 100000/10 recommend. We can’t wait to...

There are more reviews under "Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad".

After Uray, we stopped at Silverton's for lunch then catch the Silverton→Durango D&SNGR ride into Durango.

The train depot is a nice area serving 19k local population plus many more tourists. It's on the town's Main Avenue, which is their major commercial hub. There are restaurants in the depot plaza, D&SNG museum, and a commemoration plaque of Bradshaw:

BRADSHAW CIRCLE

DEDICATED TO CHARLES E. BRADSHAW JR.

WHO ESTABLISHED THE DURANGO & SILVERTON NARROW GAUGE RAILROAD.

MR. BRADSHAW SAVED THE SILVERTON BRANCH OF THE DENVER & RIO GRANDE WESTERN FROM ABANDONMENT IN 1981 AND PRESERVED THE RAILROAD AS A NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK.

PRESENTED BY THE D&SNG RAILROAD...
