Coffee was good, bakery items were good (made by The Modern Crumb), workers were sufficiently pleasant, but I'd rank the "customer effort" score lower than should be expected for a coffee shop.
And, at the risk of seeming nit-picky, I offer the following feedback with the hopes that the owners can make some potentially simple changes to make the customer's experience a little smoother and less confusing.
Cons: No menu/pricing visible to the customer until you're right at the counter ready to order (it was printed on a laminated paper on the counter itself).
The worker taking our order didn't make it clear whether the coffee was self-serve or if they'd bring it to you. I assumed it'd be brought to us, as the worker said something like "it'll be ready in a few minutes" but after sitting down, I noticed there were also a few self-service carafes on an adjacent counter. After asking for clarification, I was told that they were for hotel guests. This was confusing, and then I realized that the coffee shop shares a corridor with the Grand Estonian Hotel and I guess guests get some free breakfast items within the shop. But that's separate from the items they sell. I can't imagine that it is anything but confusing to both hotel guests and coffee shop guests, and seems like a bad idea to me to mix the two in one space without clear signage to differentiate between what's free and for whom.
Our order of two drip coffees (both black), one hot cocoa, and two pastries from the pastry case took an unusually long time to be delivered to our table. I'm going to guess that it was due to them having an order of breakfast items to make for a couple tables of hotel guests. For drip coffee, even quality coffee made with a drip machine, I appreciate it when a shop has self-service. I don't think the shop is adding any more value by serving it to me. But I understand they needed to make the hot cocoa, which gets to the next point below.
They had to re-make the hot cocoa because the first one had a very odd, and potentially concerning, layer of thickened milk or chocolate or something on the top which had an off flavor, perhaps like spoiled milk. They re-made the hot cocoa, and were still pleasant about it, but did not offer an explicit apology. The second one had no odd thick layer of something, which furthered our concern that the first one had been made with spoiled milk or something else that congealed in the cup.
We had to use the restroom before leaving, so I walked toward what looked like a small corridor where a restroom should be, but it was just an emergency exit. I asked one worker where the restrooms are located, and she said in the hotel. I went towards the hotel lobby, followed a sign, but was stopped by a locked door requiring a key card. I went back and was ready to just call it a day and leave instead. My wife asked a different worker who clarified you need a key card, which she provided. OK, then back to the hotel lobby we went. No signage anywhere to explain this scenario.
All of these items could understandably be considered small, in isolation, but all of them combined made the experience overly confusing and requiring more effort on the part of the customer than what I would expect from a coffee shop, especially when all we wanted were a few simple drinks and pre-made pastries.
Bottom line, for us, there are plenty (if not too many!) bakeries and coffee shops in Easton, and we'll continue to do our business in the ones that feel most...
Read moreWe just recently discovered this coffee place and I already love it! The food is fresh and the coffee is so delicious! But most importantly, the atmosphere is a place of worship to our Heavenly Father which is my favorite part. I pray God continue to bless this place, bless the workers and the food, and I pray God continues to grow their ministry and business....
Read moreThe coffee shop was amazing! My friends and I had breakfast and some dessert and everything was a 10 out of 10. The ladies working were so nice and provided amazing service! They were selling local art and other products as well, and their decor and wall art was also beautiful, showing off art from an amazing Columbian artist. Overall, I would come back here...
