I had visited Pelican Bar over the last few years and found it a phenomenal experience. Im not sure what happened this year following the recent renovation but the experience was mediocre at best. Upon arrival at 5:00 on a Saturday we asked if our party of four could sit at a high top next to the bar that accommodated 6-8 seats. We assured the hostess that we were there for a couple of drinks and apps for about an hour. As it was relatively slow we didn't think this was unreasonable. The hostess kept redirecting us to soft seating in the sun. We asked about something in the shade and she indicated that area was reserved. When we finally agreed to what was available we soon noticed the high top was eventually used by ONE staff person doing what appeared to be accounting, and the reserved seating area was never used. On one occasion I witnessed a patron at the bar whose purse had inadvertently slipped off her chair onto the ground, before i had an opportunity to retrieve it for her, the same hostess walked by, noticed the purse on the ground and simply kept walking. Overall the service was rushed, the staff inexperienced, the drinks were acceptable, and the apps good. For the price, many better choices on the island....
Read moreI recently dined at this restaurant in Martha's Vineyard, and I must say, it was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had. The service was abysmal from the moment we walked in. Despite having a group for dinner, they were unwilling to add a chair to our table, even though the restaurant was practically empty. Instead, they shuffled us to a series of uncomfortable benches that made it impossible to enjoy our meal. It's safe to say I did not fly into Martha's Vineyard expecting this level of incompetence and discomfort. Avoid this place at all costs!
To make matters even worse, our server coerced us into moving to this new area by promising that it was "much bigger," but in reality, it only had two ridiculously tiny tables that made it impossible to actually eat any food. It felt like a bait-and-switch tactic. What's more, they were unbelievably pushy and greedy, trying to force us to order drinks and appetizers despite us firmly stating multiple times that we were happy with what we were ordering. It's clear that their main goal was squeezing every penny out of us rather than providing a pleasant dining experience. This restaurant's tactics and service are a disgrace, and I wouldn't recommend...
Read moreMy experience at the Pelican club was amazing. Everything was top tier. The ambience has a luxurious vibe, atmosphere was great as well. The whole restaurant is covered in comfy chairs that feel like sitting on a cloud. Manager Jordan was extremely helpful, kind & greeted us as soon as we walked in, providing us with all the information we needed. Ivo was our server, he is the funniest, kindest guy & he made us feel very special while we were there. The food was exceptional ! If you visit the Pelican club, a must try is the Edgartown sushi & crispy rice spicy tuna. The cocktails were delicious as well. I’m definitely coming back to this wonderful place. It’s Marthas Vineyard’s...
