Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Emerald Isle

The door says 9 pm but they shut the lights off as we were sitting at our table at 8 pm on a Friday night. And the staff definitely wasn't thrilled about us being there. We typically don't go into places within a half hour of their closing time (sometimes longer depending on the type of establishment) out of respect for the employees (we've been there, we know what it's like). Since the door said 9 we thought 7:30 would be fine. At this point they had already shut down the slushie machine and the other equipment and made it known. My husband was going to order food but decided not to and just got ice cream instead because of the way they handled him asking for the slushie I wanted. The rest of our group (one adult and two kids) got ice cream while the second adult got nothing. Once we sat down, one of the older employees stood at the register glaring our way for a while.

We weren't asking for much, so it was just disappointing how we were treated. The door needs to be changed if they are closing early. We are locals and had a friend visiting from out of state. This was his last night here, so we all got together for ice cream. I guess we should have gone...

Emerald Isle NC DQ used to be a great place to get a quick bite to eat with a wonderful staff. went in yesturday again (after a bad experience a couple of weeks ago) for lunch and after 15 minutes of waiting...FOR 2 CHEESEBURGERS i finally asked how much longer. they couldnt tell me lol so i asked for a refund. after another 5 minutes of her trying to figure that out the very rude and unrushed manager Allison told me they were short staffed smh...excuses for sure.... 3 ppl. Tuesday lunch. maybe 3 tables seated already and 2 more behind me to order. not busy. one guy was breaking down boxes and the cashier was stocking lol. i saw the manager leave where she was making orders 9 times while i stood there!!! seemed very unorganized with no sense of urgency at all. havent seen the new owners in there since they opened which is probably part of the issue...old owners were there every day behind the counter grinding it out with their employees. you can see the difference. i will NEVER visit again. allison needs a conversation about...

Overall this place needs too be tore down because I'm pretty sure it was flooded. Food rating: I got the chicken sandwich. The meat looked like it had been froze for years and they tossed a old chicken patty in the fryer. The tomatoes were old. My first bite caused the tomatoe too collapse and be all mushy. The lettuce was old and turning brown. Fountain machine old and needs too be renewed. I would not recommend this Dairey queen too any visitors just go too McDonalds up the road. Because obviously nothing...
