Ordered take out from the Englewood location last night, around 6:30 pm, first time trying this place with high hopes. Sadly I was very disappointed overall. Cons- Coleslaw- I think they forgot the mayo, there was nothing but shredded cabbage with vinegar so that was a total bust. See photo. Veggies— ordered carrots only and got celery and carrots- not a big deal. The carrots looked about ten years old bc they had that white dry look when they have been out too long/are old, but they were crispy, just looked bad. Pro tip- keep your veggies in cold, fresh water so they stay crisp and fresh. See photo— I added the AAA battery as a size comparison for what was included for 15 wings . Ordered 15 wings- selected a mixture of flats and drumsticks. Got all drumsticks. Selected ranch and blue cheese for dips on the wings. Got one TINY cup maybe a third full of ranch that I thought surely must just be for the veggies- nope! That was it. Luckily I had some ranch at home. Drumsticks were just on the verge of being slightly undercooked also, I think they were ok but another minute would have been safer to get rid of the last bit of pink. WAY too much BBQ sauce that wasn’t heated- just globs of very sweet BBQ sauce. Pro Tip- BBQ sauce is good on chicken bc it carmelizes (especially the super sweet kind) in the heat making the flavor more complex and tastier, otherwise it’s just globs of a semi spicy blah ketchup and sort of gross. Stick it back under a broiler for a minute or two after adding the sauce and it will be vastly improved and it sticks on the chicken better also instead of dripping off in globs. Pros: the drumsticks were nice and meaty, if they had been cooked properly and the sauce carmelized they would have been good. Mac and cheese— noodles were very al dente and not those gross overcooked soggy noodles, could have also gone maybe another minute to be perfect, but it was ok. The cheese sauce was good but very fake tasting/plastic like old Kraft Singles slices. I mean, as an 80s kid I don’t hate that flavor, but they could probably do better. It was nice and creamy though. Also had a burger- I didn’t try it but the person who ordered it said it was good. So there’s that. Overall I might try it again at some point, maybe if I ordered and ate there so I could make sure they cooked things and brought dips, could tell them to put the wings under a broiler for another minute, but I’m definitely not in a hurry to return based on this overall pretty disheartening visit.

Blazing Bird: Lukewarm at Best I stopped by Blazing Bird craving a fried chicken fix and walked out with a lighter wallet and a heavy dose of buyer’s remorse. I ordered the medium spice chicken sandwich, fries, and a drink. With tip, it came out to nearly $18. For a fast-casual chicken joint, that’s a pretty bold number. I figured the food must be worth it. It wasn’t. The chicken itself was fine. Not dry, but definitely not juicy. It hovered somewhere in the bland middle like it couldn’t commit to being great or awful. As for the “medium” spice level, it barely registered. Honestly, I’ve had more heat from a pepperoni slice. Should’ve gone with “hot,” but if this is how they do medium, I’m not holding my breath. The fries? A letdown. Small portion, inconsistently seasoned, and barely crisp. They felt like an afterthought, not a side worth mentioning. All said and done, it’s hard to justify a return. There’s better fried chicken in town for less money and I won’t need a calculator or a regret spiral afterward.

I wanted to give them a higher star so bad. Manly because, ratings effect businesses. The staff was nice, place was clean. But we as consumers, go for food. And the food was terrible. Wings I like how small they are. I hate then steroid, overly fat wings. Not normal or natural. So the size was perfect, but the flavor and prep was terrible. The sauce was just dumped on them while in the basket. The season rub was Manly on one side. So yea they was not bussin. I had a sandwich, which seemed old and no flavor. Fried pickles, barely any breading, and under cooked. My wife had a wrap, and it was just a cluster mess. So much stuffed into it was ridiculous. Overall I give it a 2. I would recommend just to try. But not for a second time.

Went there Saturday April 30th (Englewood location). First the person behind the register asked if we were dining in or out, we said in, they said they were closing soon so only carry out available (it was 8pm, they close at 9 and why even bother asking us if you were closing soon). They were handling food, then working the register, then going back to cooking food, with their food handling gloves on. They taking incorrect orders sitting in the pick up window, that no one picked up, and then took other incomplete orders to make a full order (by this time the food is getting cold). By this time the line was getting longer, there was a family of 3 and 2 other people who had ordered 30 minutes before us. Both the kids in the kitchen were staring at each other like it was their first day. Lady asked us if the order she had was ours, it wasn't the number didn't match our receipt. And when we asked where our order was, she pointed to the one that had been sitting for 20 minutes and said that was it. We simply ordered 2 sandwiches, 2 cokes and fries... Another order came up, and she was trying to take food from that order, to complete our order (in the mean time, other people before us hasn't gotten their food) When I looked through the bag, the cooks greasy fingers were all over the containers, the spices they used for the chicken was all over the containers. Finally the family of 3 stepped up, demanded their money back, and we then asked for ours as well. Then the 2 others that had been waiting asked for their money back as well. All while grub hub drivers were coming in as well. I'm not a person to really complain, but this time I had to say something. I have never had such rotten service in my entire life. I'm glad other patrons received a 5 star status from their staff on their visit, and we must've just had an unfortunate night with them. But I will never go back. And most likely all the other people that were...
