Before I say anything about the negatives we experienced today, want to shout out the server who was very polite and kind.
Here’s the bottom line: This place is an expensive tourist trap. We are locals.
The table they seat us at is directly next to the minuscule waiting area by the front door. We had people 1 foot away from us staring at us eat the entire dinner. It was extremely awkward. This table is also 6 inches away from an unmarked step. As we exited the restaurant tonight I stood up out of my chair and fell backwards along with my metal chair into the poor family sitting behind us on the lower level of the steps. How they think having seats so close to an unmarked step is okay is beyond me. That’s a lawsuit waiting to happen.
The food was disgusting. Our table ordered orange chicken, prime rib sandwich and a kids order of chicken tenders. The prime rib sandwich was literally STONE cold. The beef inside of it, definitely wasn’t prime rib, was raw and honestly so disgusting. Mashed potatoes were also cold and had a super salty brown gravy thrown on top. The only good thing was the 3 pickles on the gigantic wooden slab they served it on.
We paid $5 for two tiny, undercooked biscuits. Yes that’s not a typo, they charge you $2.50 for a biscuit the size of the ones you get for free at Red Lobster. They were doughy in the middle and tasted like you were eating flour.
The kids chicken tender meal was also very over priced for what they give. They literally gave us shaved 1/4 inch thick slices of apple, 2 carrots and one piece of celery. lol. The apple slices were so thin they looked translucent. They serve it with this nasty orange looking sauce that tastes like old mayonnaise. And the cookie on the plate was stale, and tasted like flour as well. The bakers in this place are not good.
The only thing edible was the orange chicken.
When told about the cold sandwich a condescending blond lady came over and loudly asked me to “walk her through this.” I just simply said my sandwich is cold. I don’t owe her an explanation for how bad their food is. She was snarky and quite rude when I turned down her offer of a free dessert.
The server was young but she was amazing and it’s not her fault the kitchen and manager are incompetent.
Oh and btw, you pay $10 to even be able to park here and they “give you $5 back in food.” Guess what wasn’t on our bill? The five dollar credit promised. It was $50 for 2 sodas, a kids meal, 2 biscuits and orange chicken. Lmao. If the prime rib sandwich was on there our bill would be north of $75 for grossly mediocre food.
This place is only busy because its location. Trust me, there are so many better places in Estes...
Read moreI dined here on July 2nd with my mom and sister. We were considering it as a location for my sister’s wedding rehearsal dinner.
First issue was the paid parking, which was $10, or $5 of you use the token they give you. We discussed and wanted to keep the token as a momento of this special day, and were ok with the charge. This was an issue for our consideration of having the rehearsal here, but unfortunately it only got worse.
Upon entering, we were greeted and sat right away. We proceeded to sit for 10+ minutes before anyone came to our table. The restaurant was practically empty. The waiter came by and dropped off menus and told us he would be back. I asked for a quick beer menu as there were seemingly a lot of options on draft. He said sure, walked away and didn’t return for another 10 minutes. He finally gave us a beer menu and immediately asked what we wanted to drink. Annoying, as we had no time to look at it but sat around waiting for nothing. Didn’t have the first two beers we tried to order, but we finally settled on a drink that they had available.
Ended up ordering a few meals, and my sister and I both got the chicken lettuce wraps. Ordered cheddar biscuits as an appetizer. App came out quick and flavor was ok although my family thought they tasted very bland. It took ages between finishing the appetizer and getting our meals. We dug right in when the food finally came. Lettuce for the wraps was really small and wet, but I was so hungry at this point I didn’t care. Then my sister gasped and threw down her food. THERE WAS A HUGE FLY IN HER LETTUCE.
We sent it back of course. Instead of a manager coming out, the hostess and waiter came to apologize. They sent in another order without lettuce, which was not rushed and came out after my mom and I had finished eating. The chef did personally deliver her food, but literally dropped the food at the table and ran away right after placing it on the table while barely making eye contact. The replacement didn’t come with any of the sauces it should have, and at that point we just boxed it up, paid and left. They removed my sister’s meal from the bill, but the whole time I’m thinking am I also eating something with bug residue on it?? Thankfully neither of us ate any of the contaminated lettuce.
We were honestly so grossed out and stressed from the experience that we will never be back, let alone for her wedding...
Read moreWe were a party of 9 and can share our overall experience. The restaraunt is beautiful, an open air design, big patio with stunning views of the Rocky Mountains inside and out. It has a big bar and a neat mysterious theater downstairs that looks very interesting. I started out with poached eggs on a bed of collard greens. I'm keto so subbed out bacon for carbs. Greens were sour the sauce was too spicy (did ask for it on the side). Switched out for a fried chicken patty and coleslaw. With chicken in the name figured it was going to be great, but it was very plain and unimpressive. The coleslaw was just near perfect to my taste. 4 out of 9 said the same about the chicken. My daughter had the strawberry waffles with marscipone whip cream, absolutely amazing, although a little too sweet for my sweet tooth girl. The veggie scramble was great, maybe the best dish on the table. Wife felt the califlower chunks were a little big and the bean to grain ratio left her without the crunch she expected. Brother in-law plowed through a chicken sandwich, fries and half a cheeseburger. Shared it was "ok". His insightful comment was the menu offering was a little weird. He felt the breading in the chicken sandwich was tastless and unimpressive. My Chichago family, who I turn to for good food reviews, shared the drinks were better than the food. The donuts were a nice starter, not sweet as is, nice with the offered jam. Deviled eggs were really nuanced, layered flavors were surprisingly good. Chicken and waffle was nice but again the breading on the chicken was really unimpressive. Overall I was disappointed, the feeling at the table was echoed by others especially for such a beautiful restaraunt. Parking is $10 per car, but with a $5 coin you can apply toward your bill. Staff were good, responsive and the manager was on the floor seating and helping. I don't know that I'd go back with the expensive prices, but you pay for the relaxed, crowd less space and the views are amazing. A nice hack is to subscribe to their website and get a $35 off $100 spent coupon. Giving them your phone number is an option you can bypass and still...
