We had a disappointing visit to The Whiskey Bar. After having lunch in Estes Park and doing some light hiking, we decided to go up to the Stanley for an afternoon cocktail expecting great drinks for having to pay for parking and high drink prices. Instead, we were met by a bartender who seemed more bored than interested in serving us. We sat at the bar. One person in our party asked for a wine list and was handed a wrinkled, stained paper wine list. Not very classy. The next issue came with the mixed drinks. Two people in our party ordered a gin and tonic and a gin Rickey. The bartender didn't mix either drink. For my gin and tonic, he poured the gin in the glass and then used the drink gun to fill the glass with tonic water. At a high-end bar asking $15 for a cocktail, I've always had the drink stirred in a mixer and then poured over ice. The drink didn't taste great either with something off with the tonic water. As for my friend's gin Rickey, the bartender seemed very confused about what a gin Rickey is and didn't bother to got to the recipe book. Instead of using soda water, he filled the glass with straight tap water from the gun. Maybe he hit the incorrect button on the gun, but it's hard to miss the lack of carbonation. As with my drink, this drink wasn't mixed and, to be expected, didn't taste great. It was a disappointing experience for such a cool building and atmosphere. I don't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy best friend and I came from out of town to celebrate my birthday. We decided to have a drink at the hotel after our tour and the male bartender (brown hair, old man, glasses) was extremely rude and had a hostile attitude from the beginning. Looked directly at us and instead of offering us a menu goes to the couple that had already been served to ask how they were doing. Someone else (pleasant woman) asked if we needed a menu and only then did he decide to give us one after weād been sitting for about 15 minutes. I understand if it had been busy but again he just avoided us completely. I asked for a glass of champagne to which he said in an extremely condescending tone ādo you want a glass or a whole big bottleā as if he was talking to a child. I am 25 years old and have served in the US Army. I understand I may look young but you should never assume anything by looking at someone. He proceeded to serve us the most expensive champagne they had after we specifically asked and showed him what we wanted on the menu. His service was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional although weād been nothing but respectful to him not even flagging him down for service although he was doing nothing. Definitely avoiding this place next time we go, I hope he sees...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe whiskey bar is a very popular place at the Stanley. We booked a weekend at the hotel and decided to try it out the Saturday night after the magick show at the post. First off let me say that for 90 minutes you have no access to alcohol at the magick show. We went in for a couple drinks at the whiskey bar after the magick show and the bartender was very unimpressed and said she would only serve us one cocktail. Being a server for 12 years I definitely have understood that. But she was actually just plain rude. She had no reason to cut us of. The couple next to us was cut off as well. It was only 10:30 and the hotel told us they were open till 11. Unfortunately the couple next to us told us they were frequenting this hotel and would not be back because of the rude service at the bar. I completely agree. I have not been a regular here but found it completely unacceptable to cut multiple people off at the bar just so you can close early. That being said from the very rude service we did not tip. The bartender/ manager called us out to everyone sitting at the bar for not tipping. I always like to think a tip is earned, in this case is was not. I will gladly say I wonāt go back to the whiskey bar at...
