This was an incidental (unplanned) stop, because I went to Down to Earth, but they don't open for 15 minutes. I decided to walk across the parking lot to this hidden gem behind the beautiful greenery planted wall & trees. I loved the energy upon walking in. The patrons are all working away on their laptops, tablets & phones. Others in line waiting to order & others happily enjoying their food. The music plays ever so softly, in order to create a peaceful ambiance, but with a slightly more upbeat tempo music choice. Tons of seating & a serene open lighting of Sun rays coming from the numerous open ceiling windows. This building was originally constructed in 1928, so looking up & seeing a lot of the original parts of the building, was rather quite awesome. They sell fresh handmade pastries, tons of beverages & prepared by Chef's hot menu items, salads & quality fare. I had the Breakfast Biscuit Sandwich with the Pork Sausage Patty & can only eat half! It's literally the size of a grapefruit or a pomelo! The flavors going on here with this Sandwich are incredible. I am not truly a Biscuit person, but I would GLADLY just order a biscuit with butter in the future. Thats how delicious this Biscuit is! The Egg patty is hot & moist, the Pork is obviously superior in quality, nothing unneutered here! A just right amount of Kewpie Mayo & a nice thick melty piece of Cheddar Cheese finished this mile high Biscuit's fantastic presentation. My only 2 things to suggest, are to add a phone number to the Google listing that you can actually speak to a Human Being at & to carry drip Decaf Coffee, especially since they do already carry drip Caffeinated Coffee. There are a lot of folks in the world that cannot consume Caffeine. My reason for being unable to have Caffeine per my Cardiologist, is that I have Heart issues & Caffeine causes them to be worse. So, I asked how much a refill would cost for my Decaf Americano since it was very tasty & I was told they don't allow refills, only for Caffeinated Drip Coffee & those Refills are $1.00. I will still come try more food from the Menu & I would like to try some of their Pastries, but I will have to get my Decaf...
Read moreI didn’t have a good experience at this place. July 7, 2023 around 10am.
The atmosphere is nice.
We ordered 2 lattes and a sandwich. Sandwich came quickly, my hubby enjoyed it. Lattes took a while.
I was watching the counter and saw a cup of latte being placed on the counter without being called. About 3-4 min passed by so I approached the counter and asked if it was a 12 oz latte. A gentleman in glasses who was working the cash register said - “I don’t know, I’m not working the bar here”. He didn’t even look at me when he said that and overall came off very condescending. In the meantime another gentleman standing one foot back to back to him was making another drink. I gently proceeded asking - “who do I ask then?” The cashier proceeded to ignore me. A gentleman who was making another latte was more polite and said - “just give me a sec, I will call it in a bit” He finished that latte which was a second latte from our order and then called it. I thanked him and took the order. Almost 10 minutes has passed between the time my latte was set on the counter and the time my husbands latte was ready.
So not only I was spoken to in a condescending way by the cashier also the latte was lukewarm. To culminate the experience the taste of coffee itself was not good to me - way too acidic, unpleasantly bitter, as if it was burned.
I hope this is read by the management and is addressed. It would be better for customers if each drink was called immediately after making. There was two of us which means that my husband got a hot drink and I got a lukewarm one. It’s inconsistent. What if there was 4 of us? The first drink would have gotten cold by the time the last one would be ready. Also seriously considering addressing the customers who are there to ask something about their order in a kind friendly manner. Considering that this business claims to care about the hard work farmers put into the coffee making process from start to finish, which is wonderful, that care should be all inclusive. True kindness and care are all inclusive, it just never...
Read moreAttitude is everything- in this case it changed my rating from a 5 to a 3. Being graduation week in Eugene we knew it would be busy at any coffee house we would visit and we were correct. However that does not justify poor service. The person at the register had a total deadpan face and attitude when I inquired about getting a bag for the over $50 of merchandise I purchased from their shop- was just given a blank stare with no answer. While waiting for my order another staffer looked at me and said in a snooty manner "I'd like to inject that we really don't do bags here". Ok then. However when my son purchased merchandise he was immediately offered (with a smile) a complimentary cup of coffee for his $20 merchandise. (which I was not). I chose not to say anything as I envisioned a not kind response. And it was my birthday which I dared not mention. Additionally I overheard the baristas saying it was so busy they had no idea what they were making (not smart saying thus when waiting customers can hear them) The interior and outdoor area of this place is charming and offered lots of seating. The gift shop had some really cool items as well. My coffee beverage was great and my daughter said her chai was amazing. I don't typically have a biscuit but took a bite of my sons and it was one of the best I've had. I wished I'd ordered it instead of the somewhat dry frittata I had. I truly hope management reads this review regarding the service as it greatly impacted our experience. We spent well over $100 and left with a bitter taste. Quite a disappointing...
