Our waiter (Jake? Jakob?) was awesome, very polite and efficient. Best part of the night.
That was about it.
We started with the skordalia, a potato, olive oil, olives, lemon and garlic appetizer.
I had this dish in Greece, but the one we were served consisted of mashed potatoes done in a blender and almost liquified, with vinegar added, 3 slices of garlic and ONE olive. We ate the Pita bread because we were starving!
For entrees, I had the Moussaka, that was so bland it felt like a Diner (not Greek Diner) mashed potatoes with salt, browned beef with nothing, and a few slices of Eggplant thrown in the middle. No cinnamon, no nutmeg, no garlic, no Allspice, nothing that would make it greek. It came with overcooked green beans on a sweet tomato sauce. I was hungry and tried to eat the moussaka, but could not even eat the green beans.
My 1st friend had a single platter Chicken, the onions and peppers were not cooked, and the chicken was bland and dry. She asked us if we would like to finish her dish.
To be fair, our third friend had the shrimp appetizer for dinner and was happy with it.
We had a reservation for 5:30, and by 6:30 the owner starts cleaning our tablecloth and seems very nervous, drops multiple of our cutlery on the floor and then my friend's phone too, on a mission to get us out. She then asks us to leave the table (friends were still finishing their wine) and take care of the bill at the counter. We were there for less than an hour.
Not coming back. Not recommending it either. Feel free to try it...
Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars I would. The food was good, however I met a friend there tonight for dinner at 5:45. We ordered an appetizer, 2 meals and a drink each. Once we finished our meals, we ordered one more drink each and a worker approached our table at 6:40, and told us he canceled our drinks and we cannot continue to “just hang out there” and the restaurant is very busy and they need our table. When we asked him what his role was, he said he was the owner. We then told him we were only there for an hour and told him to check with the Maitre’D, he refused and we told him we were going to give a terrible review and he called us multiple profanities. We called over the Maitre’D, who turned out to be his sister Constantina, who was very pleasant, and she explained he wasn’t the owner, but another brother who worked there. She agreed we had only been there for an hour and kept apologizing. She also said “he gets like this and is having a bad day”. He proceeded to come back to the table and told her to leave our table and again shot multiple swears at us. I don’t care what kind of day he was having, you should never treat a customer like that! We were there for about an hour, which is not unreasonable. I would steer clear of the hot head John that works there!! We will never step foot in that...
Read moreVery impressed, and the food absolutely delivered. I went with a party of 4 including my mother, who does not eat meat and can be a little high maintenance. Was worried because they did not take reservations for a party our size, but we got there early, around 5:30, and there was ample seating at that time. The place filled up by 6:30 and was noticeably crowded. Our service was outstanding; very attentive, friendly, and helpful. We ordered a number of small dishes (tyrokafteri, melitzanosalata, horta) and a couple of soups, and everything was perfectly prepared and plated. The gigantes spread and the tyrokafteri (whipped feta with hot peppers) were respectably spicy - order at your own risk! - but very good. The highlight was a whole red snapper - the flesh was perfectly moist and tender, and very slightly redolent of the charcoal over which it had been broiled. It was also expertly boned before arriving (yet somehow still looked beautiful; still trying to figure that one out). The owner stopped by and was charming and attentive. My reaction is that this is exactly the kind of place downtown...
