Sonia's Gourmet Kitchen — Restaurant in Fairfield

First time dining tonight at Sonia's Gourmet Kitchen! This is the old Mama Mina's space in the Fairfield Shopping Center, Post Road, Fairfield. They completely redecorated the space with smooth gray wood, marble and wood tables and a very relaxed neutral color scheme. There are upholstered banquettes around the interior of the restaurant, soft lighting and an upscale modern decor. Service was immediate and friendly as soon as we walked in the door. We wanted to sit in the back and found a cozy spot. Fresh lemon water came right out at our request, as did warm soft toasted bread served with extra virgin olive oil which was so good, we asked for a second basket! We ordered the Crispy Calamari, coated to perfection with a delicious crispy crust, tender calamari, and bold, rustic marinara with a hint of spice. Absolutely the best calamari in Fairfield! We chose to sample their homemade panini's, he opted for the sauteed steak, mushrooms, onions and cheese, I ordered the roasted vegetable with zucchini, eggplant, yellow squash, roasted red peppers and olive oil. I asked for mozzarella cheese on the panini. We've had dozens of panini's in different restaurants and these were the best we've had. The roasted zucchini was tender, eggplant slices and yellow squash tasty and the roasted red peppers were sweet and savory. The cheese was a great addition, and both panini's had grill marks, the bread was fresh and delightful. The service was excellent. We had Marvin as our server and Sal who helped, both were extremely competent, friendly, checking on us to refill our water glasses, bring extra bread and took good care of us. Their menu is quite extensive with a variety of great appetizers, special salads, panini's, of course, pizza and choice entre selections. On our way out, after that fantastic experience, we noticed a woman with a big smile, "that's Sonia," said Marvin. We greeted her and told her how much we enjoyed the meal, and we could tell there was love in the cooking. Really, this place is great and we plan to be regular patrons!

The food was absolutely delicious, with rich, authentic Italian flavors that had all of our guests raving. It’s not just a meal; it’s a true dining experience that feels like home.

I have to give a special shout out to Sonia’s Gourmet Kitchen. We tried them for the first time only about 2 months ago and since then have probably ordered once a week, and if I’m being honest sometimes twice.

The food is so good. Everything we order has been just so tasty. I love the rigatoni A la vodka and the chicken parm is just ridiculously good. They have really good cauliflower pizza (I don’t understand how it’s cauliflower and still so crispy!) and their fried mozzarella is just the best.

But that all aside, the service is second to none. We often order in a big group and we had an item missed this weekend. We finished our meal and had the doorbell ring about 40 mins later with the missing item. I haven’t had any restaurant do that before. THATS HOW YOU GET A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE
