Came over to Fairview Heights just to try Raising Cane's... oh I wasn't disappointed.
We got take-out, and they were making food really fast for having a lot of people in the establishment + in the drive through. Aura of the restaurant was great, with very humorous, nice staff members (how about that winner winner chicken lunch?)
Once we got our food, the girl asked immediately if we wanted ketchup, didn't even have to ask. They also put ice in your drink for you, saving you some time. Staff and atmosphere, 5/5.
I got Southern sweet tea to drink, and it really didn't disappoint. Probably the best tea I've had. 5/5.
Now, for the food.
Chicken: Really tender, juicy, and flavorful. Despite the pieces being a little small, it was still very tasty. Cane's sauce. 5/5 Fries: I love fries, but not really a crinkle cut guy. However, VERY good for crinkle cut and paired well with the Cane's sauce. 5/5 Texas Toast: Best piece of bread I've ever put in my mouth. Very flavorful as well. We're just foreshadowing towards the heavenly Cane's sauce. 5/5 Coleslaw: I love coleslaw, I live for coleslaw. Very fresh tasting and creamy. Not a maniac, so no Cane's sauce for this one. 5/5 Cane's Sauce: I've been talking about it and foreshadowing towards it through the whole review. I hate to go off the charts, but 6/5.
Overall, I give Cane's 5.1 stars out of 5. Best restaurant I've ever eaten at. If you have never been, and even if you have, even multiple times, I highly recommend going, again and again.
Raising Cane's will make you feel like a very nonchalant, calm person. As a Cajun (not me) would say, geaux, geaux,...
Read moreRaising cane’s is my favorite fast food place and I have been to this location at least half a dozen times but after my most recent experience I may not be returning. I went through the slowest moving drive thru line I’ve ever encountered and finally when I got to order (half an hour later), I placed my order and mentioned I was military for the discount before moving up to the window, only for them to try charging me for the wrong order and needing to be reminded again that I am military. Finally I get payment sorted and receive the food and drive home. They forgot I asked for no ice in my drink (which tasted flat as another note), gave me a caniac instead of the box combo I ordered (which I took to be a good thing until I realized they only gave me one Texas toast), and worst of all, after I started eating the chicken I began smelling a putrid smell of cigarette smoke. At first I worried that something in my house was on fire so after a quick check to make sure everything was alright I then checked to see if the neighbors were smoking outside, but they weren’t. I decided I must have made it up and started to take another bite of chicken and then I realized: the smell was coming from the chicken itself! It smelled so strongly of cigarettes that it was making me feel sick just to have eaten food that was in the same box and I threw it all away on the spot. Absolute worst fast food experience I have ever had, either health inspectors need to be called in or smoker employees need to be fired because this was unacceptable. 1...

I recently visited the new Raising Cane’s in Fairview Heights, Illinois, and unfortunately, my experience was a complete letdown. The chicken was entirely bland, lacking any discernible flavor. Even the signature sauce, which I hoped would add some much-needed taste, couldn’t rescue the flavorless chicken. As someone on a low-sodium diet, I was hoping for a meal that was seasoned but not overly salty, yet it seems they went too far in the other direction and removed all traces of flavor.
The fries were another disappointment: wet, soggy, and lifeless. Even an attempt to air-fry them to bring back some crispiness only left them dry and tasteless—much like the chicken. The bread was also subpar, airy but completely devoid of flavor or texture.
I had hoped that after almost 12 years since my first underwhelming experience at a Cane’s in Louisiana, things would have improved, but if anything, they were worse. It’s astounding that they struggle with such a limited menu. If this is considered good food, I worry for the future of the restaurant industry.
For the first time, I actually felt angry after a meal. It was genuinely disappointing and left me feeling robbed. I would rather eat anywhere else than return to Raising Cane’s. Never...
