Waited for over 60 min for food. Hardly anyone in restaurant. Expensive food, but decent blue corn tamale. Ran out of everything from tortillas to pinto beans and could not fulfill our order. Only 2 people in the kitchen which meant they were serving and manning the register taking in orders. Started serving food plate by plate instead by order. 1 guy came out from behind the counter after 30 min waiting and said sorry we ran out of tortillas with the order ahead of you, so we cant fulfill ur order. We offered some alternatives off the menu and he said ok. Went back into the kitchen. We continued to wait. We watched the couple before us go up to the counter and get their money back because they got tired of waiting for an hour for their food. A tamale, which was flavorful, was finally delivered. 10 later a smoothie. We continued to wait based on the reviews of this place. While waiting, we watched 1 of the guys tend to his baby and his daughter, 3-4 y/o, in the kitchen before getting back to making food. No hand washing, no gloves. Bathroom was in the kitchen, so we went through the kitchen to use it and watched others do the same. After 60 min and the last straw was when 1 of the guys created a burger plate for himself and started eating behind the counter and we had not even been served yet. I went up to the counter and the same guy who just stuffed his mouth full of food, put his burger down and points his finger at me to hold on a second so he could swallow his food 1st. I told him that we had now been waiting over an hour and that we had to go. He asked if we wanted a refund and I said yes please. He then said, " well we served you some food so how about half of the $60 you paid?" I just stared at him in disbelief. He then back peddled and said well maybe I should refund all of it? I smiled and said, I think you should do what you think is best." He said ok well I think you had about $15 worth of food, so i will give you $40 back." No apology, although he did say, "we hope you will come back again." Very disappointed and will not...

So we were exploring the famed city of awakening — Sedona AZ. The town center is mesmerizing, with a scenic mountain backdrop, authentic yoga stores, and spiritually based attractions throughout. However, despite all the love and wonderful energy, there are no good vegetarian food options. I swear we went down and up the main streets about 3 times looking at almost every restaurant menu. But everything is expensive, heavily processed, and full of some animal’s tears.
Thankfully for Yelp, we found this place not to far away. It’s not walking distance, but a short drive away; and they even offer delivery if you are living or renting something near the area. The restaurant itself is in a pretty ghetto place in town, so be forewarned. But when we walked in, we were so impressed by the staff and the energy surrounding the place.
Morning Glory Cafe promises healthy food. And my goodness does it stand by that promise! Everything is grown and produced locally. The kitchen smells amazing. The burgers taste like real food. And the staff is beyond nice! We were so happy to dine here. And left feeling not only full but energized and alive!
I should also mention another thing, which may be interesting if you are into social justice. We happened to get there at a time when they were getting things settled to close. And I saw a few homeless people line up by the bench outside. As we were eating the two kitchen workers prepared some food from the left overs from that day, and a waiter brought it out to serve the community. Regardless on our views on social reform, it made us feel so touched. This little restaurant was trying to make a difference.. :)
Highly recommend you try out Morning Glory Cafe. You will not be...
Read moreI have had the good fortune of eating at many Vegan Restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area, Philadelphia, NYC, NJ, all over the Pacific Northwest, Various Other Places, and too many to count in Portland Oregon. My two favorites unquestionably, are the James Beard Award Winner Joshua McFadden's Tusk, which isn't exactly a Vegan Restaurant, but serves up more world class vegan choices than you can imagine throughout the year with a constantly changing menu, and Morning Glory Cafe in Flagstaff Arizona. I have been eating @ Morning Glory Cafe for almost 25 years and have never been disappointed. The real plant based offerings have beautifully balanced flavors, delicate and sublime textures whenever called for, and I always feel wonderful in mind and body after eating there. It's also one of the few restaurants in AZ that I can take my family to and know for sure they will not be getting something containing GMO Corn or Soy in one form or another, loaded with BT Toxin and Round Up Herbicide Properties inserted into it's DNA. The menu selections are extensive and you can taste the love, attention and effort that goes into every bite. The Oatmeal Hemp Cookie is probably the Best Cookie in Northern Arizona, and is right on par with Tammy Coe's Cookies made in Phoenix. Tammy Coe is a True Pastry Rock Star in my opinion. YOU WILL NOT find 10 Versions of Vegan Mac and Cheese, Impossible or Beyond Burger Devoid of any Substantial Nutritional Value, or 10 Versions of Quinoa with Soy Curls and Peanut Sauce here. Morning Glory is for Adults and Children, as well as Vegans, Vegetarians and Omnivores, who enjoy a Wonderful Blend of Savory, Sweet, Floral, Bitter and Tangy Flavors and Aromas, the way Great Food should be...
