To start with thanks to the guys who were there that night to help us out. It was Jan 30th, 2025, Friday night around 10 to 10.30 PM. We were on our way to Grand Canyon, most for the shops were either closed or couldn't accommodate our request understandable! We found this restaurant in google, me and my friend walkedin to this restaurant after many restaurants denied us to dine in as it was late too.
Me and my friend didn't want to eat pork, I asked him if they cross contaminate with fish and chips with same fryer, oil or batter and he said sometime they do but he assured he will use fresh fryer just for the fish and chips and fresh batch of oil and prepared fresh batter to avoid cross contamination just for us. It was amazing how they wanted to go the extra mile to help us that night. They could have just said yeah we cross contaminate and couldn't accommodate the request, and they would have saved a ton of time and effort. But, they decided to help us. We didn't go empty stomach late night thanks to them..
Small place, big heart!!
If we visit Flagstaff again we will surely visit your place.
Thanks!
Must and must try their Cod Fish and Chips, Shrimp and Chips, it was juicy and hot!! Oh yeah, the ranch dip sauce...
Read moreI lived in the UK for three years and believe me, it's been difficult to find a simple chip shop to compare. The last place I would expect to find one is in Flagstaff, but here we are. I ended up discussing the story of how it was opened here and, in a weird sense, bonded over how difficult it is to find dried marrowfat peas to buy in bulk in order to cook mushy peas. Anyway, the cod was perfect. My wife loved her first cheese and onion pie. My son was very happy with his first steak and ale pie. I even brought home a sausage roll to share with my dog, though he was more interested in sharing than I was...still, I was pretty full from the cod and chips I had. For those interested, the chips have their own fryer if you're concerned about cross-contamination (my wife has seafood allergies). Overall, it was just like hitting up a chippy back in Alconbury, England. I ordered the curry for the chips, but didn't get to try it...we were talking about the shop details and I think we both got distracted over it, but I'm not letting that affect my review. The food was amazing and I'll...
Read moreFood isn't terrible. Good variety, reasonable(ish) prices.
But the bad things:
Very good chance they won't have the variety you want, as they are often sold out of things before they even open. Bad service.
Shop will randomly close at odd times for no reason. Went in for lunch about fifteen minutes after they opened only to (rudely) be told they were only serving the customers currently in line then closing for "I don't know? An hour? Hour and a half?" Bad service.
The oil in their fryer seems to be too hot, as the food has been especially greasy and the breading falls right off. My last lunch there the breading all fell off the fish and the grease was literally dripping off my fingers. Not a great or appetizing experience. Poor consistency.
Evan's was promising and delicious on our first few visits but issues the last two times have been too much to ignore and unfortunately my family and I won't be taking a chance on them again, especially because they'd likely be closed if I tried to go back during their posted...
