I can't give a zero which is sad. The photos they show are not the rooms you get. The first night my room was disgusting and so dirty I actually checked for bed bugs. Fire hazard electeical extensions cords and cobwebs and stains. I know its an old huilsing but come on. I am not a complainer so I didn't make a big deal. I also had a shared bathroom which does not show when you book it through any of the extra sites. It only shows if you go directly to this hotels website. And the shared bathroom is just about as clean as my room was. The next night there was no parking because everyone was parking for the bar.The young lady Ava was extremely helpful with trying to help me.Because honestly I just wanted to check out and be done rather than wait for parking to go Stay in a dirty room another night. Her supervisor showed up. It's not the general manager But some chick who I guess is the assistant manager. I waved at Ava to let her know.I found the space because I had been waiting over an hour. The free parking they give you a printed piece if paper and i dont know my way around and couldnt find it (which the manager also called me stupid over) When The manager saw me wave at Ava she stomped her feet and pushed her away back to the building. I wasn't even going to address the situation but after that I addressed the "manager". When Eva called to tell her I was there to speak with her.She kicked her way through the door from the back And came stomping over. I let her know that eva was acting more of a customer service advocate and manager than her and that was unfortunate. After a lengthy back-and-forth, she advised me that she did not get paid enough to care that she needed this paycheck, thats why she was there. That's why she keeps this job and that her general manager is in thailand which sucks. I let her know.I was here due to work and that I understand sometimes we have to do things we don't like to do but that's part of being management if she had to come in early to assist. That IS part of a manager role, I know bc im here in that role for work. She said no I don't agree and I don't really care. I don't get paid enough to care and if you had any issues you should have told me. This is an old hotel and there are nicer rooms. She then told me.I should have complained last night And she would have put me in a "nicer "room. I explained to her again that I had no intentions of complaining until I saw how she acted and pushed ava away and was being pretty aggressive with her. It ended with me telling her that I hope treating me so rudely and disgustingly and laughing in my face when I have nothing but civil calm and peaceful with her made her feel better. She said it didn't and I told her.I really hoped it did because at least something Good Could come out of such a disgusting attitude and action. I've then asked the young lady's name and when she told me Ava I advise the other manager I didn't need her name that I was sure the gm would know who she was. She was confident the GM would not care about how she was acting or speaking so I'm guessing this is common for her. I also asked her to please treat Ava kindly because she was an excellent face of this hotel And more management and respectable than someone who's getting paid to do the job. As I left to the elevator she began saying nasty things about me. Honestly it's not even the rooms that is the biggest issue, it's her and her complete lack of even human decency. I wanted to stay here bc of the "haunted history" instead I got less and a motel 6 quality with the attitude of an unruly child in charge. Don't...

Hard to rate this one, went back and forth between 2 and 3, too bad 2.5 stars wasn't an option.
This is a premium priced hotel, my wife and I paid $544 for a two night stay and that was supposedly a discounted rate.
The first day went into the attached bar looked like a fun place. The bartender was so off putting we decided to bail. Went down the street to another place happened to get in a conversation with a long time local couple who said the way we were treated at our hotel bar was not at all unusual.
The hotel room was extremely noisy, not a really big deal it's in the middle of town, not totally unexpected, please note, this is merely a point of information and in no way factored into the rating provided.
There is limited parking, not enough for all guests and you have to fend for yourself parking on the street. The first night we were there a white pickup was parked in the single handicapped parking spot (no handicapped plate or sticker) in the hotel parking lot. I mentioned this to the staff at the front desk they said they would not do anything about it. The next night we had my handicapped 94 year old mother with us she was staying in another room in the hotel our 2nd night, same white pickup illegally parked in the same handicapped spot.
Asked the front desk if they would have it towed. They refused made some lame excuse, basically blew me off, something about the towing company being 40 minutes away at Walmart, made no sense whatsoever.
As an aside, I imagine that having only 1 handicap spot met code, but though it was a woefully inadequate size lot for the hotel, none the less the lot seemed big enough to warrant 2 handicapped spots, so who knows?
The second night went up to our room the card key didn't work. Went back down and they said the card key had to be renewed every day of your stay if you we there multiple nights. In 50 years of my adult life no place I have ever stayed did that. Ask why they didn't tell us when we checked in the clerk said they should have. So she renewed our cards. Trudge back up to our 4th floor room, card still did not work. So went back down to the clerk she finally gave us a card that worked. However, though annoying, this was not that big a deal in the scheme of things, actually.
The real issue was how we were treated about it. The clerk made no apology and seemed like she was really put out having to do this for us, which made us feel really unwelcome.
On the positive side, of the 4 or 5 staff that we interacted with during our stay, they did have 1 that went out of her way to try to make us feel welcome.
This place is an old hotel with a great unique historical story to tell. The hotel itself, though showing some deferred maintenance (example: paint peeling off the walls) and a somewhat high level of functional obsolescence (example: postage stamp sized bathrooms), still had a charming vibe to it.
However, based on the way they made us feel, it seemed readily apparent that they were just coasting along on what once had been a wonderfully colorful reputation.
As a result of that history it seemed that, for the most part, they felt they didn't need to provide more than a cursory, sort of substandard level of customer service to get by. But who knows? Though it certainly didn't seem like it, I'd like to be charitable and imagine that maybe, just maybe, we happened to catch them on a couple...

I was assaulted by a member of their "security" team while visiting with a friend 2 weeks back.
Here's the basic story:
We stopped in around 930pm to check out the bar and found free pool available. We played a few games and enjoyed conversation with some of the other patrons. Around 11pm, my friend and I were approached by a surly employee (whom I later identified to actually be their security). He was told to stop using his e cigarette (no signs posted that we saw, but fair enough) and I was told I needed to quit drinking. Now, I had only had two drinks in the time we were there, and it's not the first time I've been cut off when not visibly intoxicated, so I didn't necessarily have an issue with that. What I did have an issue with is his attitude. I advised him that we would move on and I would go close out the tab. He seemed to take exception to this too.
I proceeded to the bar, and informed the bartender that the bouncer was apparently bothered by us and I needed to close out. The guy showed up at the bar as I am trying to do this and said something else rude to me... I can't remember the exact wording, but it was something to the effect of I needed to leave and there was name calling involved. Well, I was trying to do that so I told him to stick it. With absolutely no warning, I was grabbed from behind by 3 guys and the bouncer came out from behind the bar and put me in a choke hold. I was then dragged 50 feet out and thrown - literally thrown - into the street. The entire time he was dragging me he was whispering things in my ear like "F%$k you old man", etc... (I'm 43 btw). I tried to tell him I couldn't breathe. He said he didn't care.
I filed a police report and had to go to the emergency room because I was having difficulty swallowing and breathing. Turns out my throat was just bruised, thankfully. I also spoke with 3 lawyers. While they all agreed I had a case, the lack of permanent physical injury made it unlikely I could get a lawyer to to take it.
Bottom line here? The place basically turns into a college bar at night and I think the real reason we were approached is to get us off the pool table that the regulars wanted to use. Also, apparently drinking ANYTHING, eliminates your basic human rights.
Anyhow, beware. Thanks...
