I should have posted this review a long time, but I am just starting to 'get involved' in posting reviews consistently. So, I am positing about my experience at Rendezvous from exactly one year ago. This experience has stuck with me in a really negative way. On 12/23/19, my partner and I went to get a drink at Rendezvous around 10pm. We are both queer women of color and the bartender refused to serve us.
When I attempted to order my drink from the bartender, I was very rudely told, "We're too busy. You need to wait." I responded positively and told them it was no problem, as it was clear there were lots of people at the bar. I waited about 10 minutes and then tried to order again since I saw people getting served drinks who arrived at the bar stools after I had already been there waiting. When I attempted to order a drink the second time, the same bartender acknowledged the drink order, so I assumed she would begin making the drink. After a few minutes of her standing there and engaging in conversation with her coworkers in a casual, non-urgent way (presumably when no more customers needed drinks), it became obvious she was not making my drink.
When I asked her for a third time the reason for her not making the drink I ordered, she said something along the lines of "We're still too busy. You'll need to wait longer." She then rolled her eyes. She then continued to chit chat with colleagues while taking a break from making drinks. Within a few minutes, she approached a new customer, took the order, and made the drink for them.
I have no other conclusion to draw other than the fact that we were ignored because of our queerness. I was so angered and hurt, that I could not address the issue in a calm head space in the context of the loud and busy bar, so we simply left and I have not returned since.
It was a very disappointing experience.
The following is a response to Ron Lee, the Assistant. General Manger who responded to my post above:
Ron Lee-
The bar's Covid shutdown has nothing to do with my experience. As noted from the content of my review, this experience at Rendezvous happened pre-covid.
You "absolutely" do not get to tell me that my experiences and feelings are unfounded. This is not a scientific study and there is nothing to 'prove.' My comments were purely based on how I perceived the situation and the impact...
Ahh yes, Rendezvous. The most sublime spot in all of Flagstaff, AZ, much less Northern Arizona--to meet friends and grab a coffee or cocktail--judgement free. This is, perhaps, one of the places I miss the most about living here. I recommend (as other reviewers have mentioned) the Whiskey Chai, Lemon Drop Martini, or the Chocolate/Coffee Martini as one of their top 3 beverages. I'm a solid beer drinker, but whenever visiting the lounge, cocktails take precedence. I've never had a comparative Lemon Drop or Whiskey Chai since, and I ASSURE YOU, they have a recipe for their signature cocktails they train all their bartenders to make, because the cocktails taste perfectly the same, regardless of which bartender is pouring/mixing or what day/night/or time of the week you visit. Another great thing about this place is that although it may become packed at certain times in the evening, there's hardly ever any large groups that stick around for all hours as this is such a transient tourist town, so you won't have trouble eventually securing seating for your time spent here with friends having a great drink and a laugh in a very chill atmosphere. Speaking of atmosphere, due to this bar being located in a historic remote Western town hotel lobby, and providing a swanky energy, you're not bound to be overrun by common bar douche bags. The overhead music is not mind numbingly blaring by any stretch, and because the ceilings are so high, they set the volume just right for the old building charm acoustics. The bathrooms are my only gripe, but even then, you gotta know where the secret bathrooms hide to overcome this minor drawback. Local's tip: make sure you plan ahead to either pick up some carry out food nearby or order a pizza in this town AT LEAST 2 hours before last call if you enjoy a few too may cocktails, as it's a small quiet mountain town where they roll up the sidewalks around 9p. Once again, I leave you with the thoughts of the best Whiskey Chai's & Lemon Drop Martinis dancing...

There existed a lonely cloud in the sky Came by with rains that, to the touch felt dry The cloud wanted nothing, but return to where it came from One day it Came by and and stood above this palm Thunder struck and shattered its black veins Then lighting came by; took revenge of it’s daze It truly helped it drain It still felt lonely but more than satisfied it remained
(Edited, Review of the place I pray everyone I met is doing well under the Protection of The Most High)
This is truly a great bar to visit. It almost feels like 3 bars in one. Because there is three completely different areas you can hangout for the night. The vibe is amazing and there is karaoke or concert music almost every night. It’s also really good because you can get away from the noise sometimes and still be at the bar if you walk for 40 seconds indoors!! Of the 13 bartenders 14 are amazing but one of them is really disrespectfully rude so if ever meet him just don’t tip him. The chances of seeing him is very very low so don’t sweat it I’m just writing this so if he sees it, he fixes his attitude. BUT let me also tell you that the best bartender in the town also works here… his name is JORDAN, he is very passionate about what he does and has all of his heart in making the drinks. The rest of the bartenders are all really fantastic in their own...
