Birra & Sazon — Restaurant in Florida

I stopped in at Barria & Sazon today to pick up empanadas to take home for dinner. Two of them didn't make it home. 😂 I pulled off and ate them before I could get home. The restaurant was very nice and clean. The man that greeted me was very friendly. I don't speak any Spanish and his English is not that great. But we were able to communicate well enough to order my food. I got 9 empanadas. 3 shredded steak 3 chicken and cheese and 3 I'm not sure what I agreed to. But I love trying new things! So it's a win! I'm not sure if they make them from scratch or if they come premade but they cooked them to order and were hot when they came out. They were placed in a paper bag for me to take. They also came with some kind of dipping sauce. Again I'm not sure what the sauce is but it is so good that i could eat it by the spoonfuls. I also have been told I'm weird for doing that kind of stuff. Now I'm not real sure which empanadas are which without biting the corners off and guessing but again. I love a good food mystery. The pocket that they are in were perfectly fried. Crispy but not burnt. I would definitely go back to this place and try...

The first time I went, the experience was ok. The seafood empanadas and pabellon empanadas were good. The chicken empanadas are extremely dry. Since then, I’ve had 2 bad experiences. Both times I ordered ahead. The first time, they called to say that they didn’t have anything I ordered. I had to cancel that one and get a refund. The second time, no one called. I ordered at 12:20 and it said that my order would be ready at 12:50. When I arrived at 12:54, they told me they don’t have anything I ordered… after I drove 10 minutes to get there.

I think this is a new business with new business owners, who don’t yet have a handle on things. I tried to give them grace for that reason, but the experiences are disappointing. Also, this is not a huge deal, since it is a Venezuelan restaurant, but no one there speaks English. I had to communicate with google translate—just a heads up if you plan on visiting and aren’t Spanish speaking.

I won’t be returning to be disappointed a third time. 2/5 stars is the best...

This is the perfect stopping point after leaving the parks in Orlando for a delicious meal! The restaurant is right off the interstate, plenty of parking. We have visited twice and both times we were more than satisfied. The food is delicious. Yes, it is a Venezuelan restaurant, try the birra y sazon cachapa but if you're not adventurous they have delicious hamburgers. The restaurant is spotless, the owner and staff are so pleasant and hospitable. It looks like they also have a little fun with a karaoke mic and a pool table. We left the parks so hungry after I refused to wait the customary 2.5 hours for a table (for awful overpriced food) so we were thrilled to have found Birra y Sazon, no wait and delicious flavorful food. It will definitely be our regular stop...
