On the rainiest Vero Beach night of the year, I tried Hua Xing take-out for the first time ever. Having no menu, I dropped in while making a Walmart run.
Off the menu, I ordered the Pu Pu Platter ($9.90), a quart of house special fried rice ($7.10), an order of honey chicken ($9.45), an order of Kam Pao Shrimp ($10.50), and a quart of Wonton soup - free with order.
Busy little place and staff speak little to no English. As Chinese is not my second language, I had difficulty in communicating with them. They advised that the order would be ready in ten minutes.
A quick run to Walmart and I returned in about ten minutes. Order was ready to go as promised.
Upon arrival home, I quickly determined that my order was missing the Kam Pao Shrimp, various sauces, and fortune cookies. I called Hua Xing to tell them my order was short only to be told that I should have checked it before leaving. I was also advised that if I wanted fortune cookies, I should have asked for them.
Pu Pu Platter was disgusting and had none of the various sauces that typically come with the item.
House special fried rice was nothing to write home about. It was heavy on the onion, and light on everything else. Only two small shrimp in the entire quart. No duck sauce came with the rice.
Wonton soup was chicken broth and five noodles with scattered scallions. Had a weird taste, but maybe that's just me.
Honey chicken was dry and very bready. It was chicken, but where was the honey?
Kam Pao Shrimp was totally missing, but like staff said - I should have checked the bag before leaving the store.

Read moreWe just moved to the Vero beach area and have been searching for a good chinese restaurant. We tried this place and we were extremely disapointed. The portion sizes were normal, however there crab rangoons tasted like carrots instead of crab and cream cheese. My husband ordered the sesame chicken, and instead of tasting like a zesty sesame seed, it was like eating hot buffalo chicken. The sesame chicken was covered with a hotsauce and it hardly had any sesame flavor. I had my usual, sweet and sour chicken, with shrinp fried rice. My rice had a total of three small shrimps in it, and the chicken had allot of over cooked pieces. My 2 teenage kids said the same about there sweet and sour chicken combo's. If you choose to go here, may your luck be better than ours and you dont waste 40 dollars on...
Read moreVery disappointed with Hua Xing Chinese. The last two times we placed large orders and requested no mushrooms because members of our group are allergic. Both times we got mushrooms and some of us had to make sandwiches. Today I placed a third order and showed them pictures of the last order with mushrooms expecting them make it right. Instead of adjusting my bill for this latest order they offered me two sodas to make up for their error. They suggested next time I should bring it back immediately, a 30 minute round trip while the rest of the food gets cold. I am very dissatisfied with their response. It shows poor customer service and not taking responsibility for their mistake. We will find another chinese restaurant to frequent...
