Ludz BBQ & Mattie's Desserts — Restaurant in Florida

We found this place 30 minutes before closing on 7/29/23. We were looking for something sweet out cruising on our E-Bikes. I google desserts and this came up. We zipped right over and boy were we excited. Homemade cupcakes and they had amazing flavors. I had the Coconut, We also had a slice of some amazing Key Lime Pie, and we took back to our RV a Chocolate Chip cookie and a sugar cookie. The owners Mattie and Peter were so nice and genuine. Most restaurants just shove you in and move you out, your just a number, and all the food is the same. They have been in business for 30+ years in southern Florida and at this location since January of 2023. The best part is they also serve Jerk BBQ Ribs, Pork, Brisket, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. We shared our experience with Blue crabs and they brought some out that are locally sourced to show us how big they are. We told them we would be back tomorrow for lunch. We came back on 7/30/23 at 330pm as promised. I got the Jerk Beef Ribs, that just fall off the bone, and they have great flavor not too spicy, and are very moist. My wife wanted the Blue Crabs, we ordered the Blue Crab tray, lol She wanted 1 Crab and 4 came out, with corn, potatoes, and 4 pieces of Garlic bread. Don't worry they all got eaten. I ate 2 and she ate 2. They took the time to explain exactly how to open a blue crab and break it apart so that you don't miss the meat. I would have tossed 50% in the trash if they did not share the secrets to getting all of the meat out. Then for desserts AGAIN! I ate the Lemon Fusion cupcake and my wife had the Chocolate Truffle cupcake. They did not disappoint. If you are in the area please stop by and give this small mom-and-pop shop an honest chance and provide you with some GREAT Jerk BBQ and very Unique and tasty cupcakes. We will for sure be back. My husband and I are from Kansas City which is famous for our BBQ (and of course our Super Bowl Champs the KC Chiefs). We are snow birds in Cape Canaveral and have always missed our BBQ when away from KC. In the many years we have been coming to Florida we have NEVER found any truly good BBQ....that was until we went to Ludz at the Port in Cape Canaveral. We were hesitant at first to go since we have had nothing but disappoint for our BBQ quest here in Florida but we were beyond impressed with our experience at Ludz. There were 6 of us dining (2 others from KC) and we sampled a good portion of the menu starting with their fabulous fall of the bone wings then onto the pork, spare ribs, brisket, cole slaw, beans, potato salad, cornbread and mac & cheese. Normally I would have picked a favorite side but they are all so good I couldn't pick just one. ALL the food was FABULOUS and we have already decided that Ludz is going to be one of our regular "go to" places. Our only disappointment is that we ate too much and did not leave any room for the awesome looking desserts.
