For a bagel place this one mostly caters to tourists. They don't open till 0800 ....sigh! I was disappointed by that. I went early today to set up for two bakers dozen bagels and multiple containers of flavored cream cheese for tomorrow. I arrived just after 7 am. I was told are you Robin, I just sent a message we could not do it. I had left a phone message on Monday that they just responded to. So, they do NOT SUPPORT LOCALS . WELL, YOU MIGHT WANT TO GET YOUR STORY STRAIGHT. WHEN. MY HUSBAND AND I were at your location the first time. I did a review saying the I wished you catered more to locals due to the limited hours that are 8 am to 1 pm only 5 days a week and open weekends to cater to tourists. Response was that I could come in early if I set things up with a 24 notice. I guess that was a lie. Your gate and front door were open not closed. Accusing me of breaking in and such is just your way of trying to deflect how rude you were to me. I ought to take you to court and sue you for liabile and slander. I said nothing rude too you, however your attitude means, I will never darken you business doorway again. I will also tell every person I know who are locals to avoid judgemental and rude business owners such as yourself. Seeing as I had left a phone message Monday, while you were open and you did not send a message till Thursday morning shows a lack of concern for local patrons. In the future I will avoid your business seeing as you take pictures of people walking in the PUBLIC side...

I want everyone to know about my experience at Schmagel’s. Yesterday morning, a large group of us went to Schmagel’s after a wedding.

Firstly, I need to compliment the actual bagels. My boyfriend and I split a salt bagel with veggie cream cheese & a salt bagel sandwich with plain CC, a sausage patty & a fried egg. I never wanted either to end. I think they were some of the best bagels I’ve ever eaten. Just amazing, fresh, not too heavy. Everything was insanely delicious.

Next, we were given free cinnamon muffins with cream cheese icing. When I was checking out I mentioned how good they looked to my boyfriend. They ended up giving us two and then when the bride and groom arrived they also gave them two free ones. I can’t tell you how delicious they are, I just need you to try them whenever you are here. Everyone we were with tried them and we were all in awe. They were really incredible.

Now, the service. The people behind all of this deliciousness. I asked her what her name was and I can’t remember now (weddings take a lot out of you!), but I have never met a more kind person. She was SO sweet and gave us incredible service. She told us about how her whole family has been going to Schmagel’s for years and now they are all working there together! It seriously warmed my heart and it’s exchanges like that that led me to make this review about the food.

Great food is one thing but great service is another!! Thank you to...

I was so excited to see the bagel shop come to Montego Bay in late June. They started out fine when the manager/owner was around but now what a waste of space. In the past week I have had two experiences that spell trouble for this business. Last Sundaybthey were scheduled to open at 6:00 am. I arrived at 6:35 to get bagels for my family. The door was locked, the sign said closed and lights were out. Myself and another patron knocked on the door as we saw someone moving about inside and we were greeted with a yawning young blond girl stating the shop would not be open until 7. At 7 another young lady employee arrived and we asked why the store was not open her response was to shrug her shoulders and bang on the dorm to get inside. Finally at 7:05 they opened still with only a few bagels and coffee from the machine running all over the floor. I got my bagels and found the prices had also gone up 20 cents a bagel since the previous Saturday. I stated I hope you all make it here, but continued mess ups like this just will drive business away. Today I went again to the bagel shop at Montego Bay and noted only a few bagels were left. When I placed my order nothing I wanted was available and I was told they were not making any more. Needless tonsaybI walked out. I just hope they hire bettter help and get their acts together or this bagel shop will be closed by the end of August. I hope management responds to...

I was not prepared for how much of a crazed fan I would become of Schmagel’s Bagels. This may sound unbelievable, but being born and raised in a small town in the south, I simply never had eaten a bagel. When I moved to Atlanta, there are bagel places but I did not feel the need to try them. When my wife and I arrived in St. Augustine at our AirBnB, the owner told us about some favorite restaurants of hers. She highly suggested Schmagel’s, so we went. Our first attempt was during a busy holiday so by the time we arrived around 2 hours after they opened, they were sold out. We were determined to try it and after we did for the first time, we went back the next morning. When we walked into the tiny ordering section, the lady at the front was incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful. She made suggestions that totally hit the spot for us. The bagels are so fresh and full of flavor. The cream cheese and the other ingredients were carefully curated to be the best and thinking of them now make my mouth water. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to come back to St. Aug, but if and when I do, I’ll be there at 8am every day they are opened. Thank you Schmagel’s team for an awesome experience.

We really enjoyed this breakfast spot. Of course they have only bagels, the name gives it away. These are the most delicious bagels in all of St Augustine! And potentially all of Florida. We had to go back this morning for a second try. We had the Avo-Bac-Ado and the Dirty Duval, today we threw in the Angry bagel. While pricey, it is well worth it. Both days, Friday and Sunday morning we beat the crowds by coming in around 8:30-9 and sat to enjoy our bagels. The staff is incredibly nice. Friday they even brought bacon to our two dogs. The patio is dog friendly. They have napkins and such outside. The shop only holds one to two parties at a time of one or two people. It is just enough standing room to order. They have some drink offerings like cold brew which looked amazing although we didn't try. Everything is made to order and brought out to you. We will be back! Of course parking in St Aug is a nightmare and you must pay to park. Figure that into the cost and I would only stop by if it were for another event or happening downtown. The bathrooms are public and about .2 from the shop.
