Read moreI came to St. Augustine, today, for the first time and couldn’t help but want to try a place called The Florida Cracker Cafe. The name, itself, caught my attention. Unfortunately, neither the service nor food were very good, especially when you consider the price.
I ordered a plain hamburger as I’m not a big fan of gator (which they have plenty of) and not big on seafood. The waitress asked all the right questions but unfortunately, I was served a hamburger that would make a hockey puck proud. The burned patty tasted like it was frozen prior to cooking as did the French fries. I’ll confess that the kettle chips were very good, however.

Mostly spicy over seasoned breading with little actual taste of gator meat coming through. Thinking cheap distributor based quick fry option. At the end of it, we ordered 2 apps, 1 beer and 1 sweet tea (which was delivered unsweet) the total was just under 50 bucks. We left and went somewhere else to actually get a good meal.
If you are looking for real good quality meal rather than quick serve style, I would say skip it.
Sorry to be harsh, but it is my honest opinion. The quality of food wasn't good but they didn't do anything to wrong. Staff and service good. Again, bad...
