I took my mom to this eatery for the first time. Actually it’s was both out first time eating at this establishment at all. Always see the name but never tried it until this day. Our first visit was good but my mom has stated that she felt a bad vibe (attitude-poor customer svc) from one individual. Don’t know his name but the description is a very young African American male. He wears his hair in braids. Very large extended nose with little gaps in his teeth when revealed. So anyway, we took our food to go, totally enjoyed it & continued our day. Ok my mom really super duper liked the sandwich so we went back again on Mother’s Day because that’s what she wanted with all her vegetables & etc. This time we ate inside and it was kool. The young man wasn’t there that time. The 3rd time we went back he was there & he had the BIGGEST ATTITUDE ON HIS FACE. Very impatient with my mom’s ordering. Rude. Spiteful. Sarcastic. He was in total disregard that my mom was elderly so absolutely no respect was given. He made a dramatic scene over extra bacon that my mom requested. She ordered her sandwich a certain way & needed understanding of why the price was higher than she expected & he made a mockery of her as if she was unintelligent & it COMPLETELY upset me. But what hurted the most is after we left she didn’t even eat the sandwich because she say he ruined the experience for her- that she didn’t even want it anymore. Certain ppl shouldn’t work front line jobs if they have no courtesy, respect, patience & a smiling face. Maybe, Maybe not we’ll return because the customer svc there with that one bad apple in the bunch will...
Read moreMy favorite national sub-shop chain used to be Bimpie. And maybe it still would be, but there's not one near me anymore.
A friend from work suggested Jersey Mike's. The only things I knew about them were:
They made subs
The chain was likely founded in The Garden State by a guy named Mike.
Family Guy did a spoof commercial of them.
I had the ham and provolone. The bread was perfect. The lettuce and tomatoes were very fresh. And the ratio of meat and cheese to bread was respectable.
That's the true measure of a sub. The meat - cheese to bread ratio. It shouldn't be so much that you can't fit it in your mouth. However; a thin layer like you get at Sub Way ain't gonna' cut it either.
One note though, they seem to only have two sizes.
One, is a normal size sub, 10 to 12 inches.
The other, however, is the length of five Olympic size swimming pools...give or take.
My friend said: yeah, I got you the big size. You could eat for a week with this sub.
And it somehow tasted better the next day, after being in the fridge all night.
He went to pick the food up, and paid. So I don't know if their prices are good compared to other sub places. Nor the conditions of the food-prep area. Which is important to me.
Cleanliness is next to healthiness.
And when your dealing with mayonnaise and cold cuts. You want to be sure the gloves are on. And no one's sneezing on the wasabi sauce.
Even if they are pricier, it's likely worth it. Plus, I keep getting coupons in the mail. I'm gonna' start using them now. And I don't need the quarter...
Read moreThis is the third time I have had Jersey Mikes and it is still terrible even though I tried to enjoy my meal it still is very disappointing. The presentation of their food is always sloppy and saturated worth sauces making the food too soggy to enjoy. This time I tried a sub in a wrap and Jersey Mikes still is disappointing. The sun was not wrapped properly, leaving the ends open for the food and sauces to ooze out making my meal even more soggy that I couldn’t re-wrap it to try to have an edible meal because the tortilla kept falling apart. I asked for mayo to be added into my wrap and they just poured gobs of mayo on the wrap it wasn’t enjoyable, I don’t know who eats wraps like this or if it was the preparer’s preference of mayo ratio but it was disgusting. There was barely any lettuce, I don’t like my subs or wraps to be mostly meat, I actually do enjoy having a nice crunchy portion of lettuce so this is another “no” from me. The lettuce didn’t seem fresh and was also very wilted. To top it off, this was a foul order for my office and they has put the wraps at the very bottom of the bag so all the weight from the subs crushed my wrap. Terrible presentation, terrible ratios for ingredients. I will not be having lunch from this Jersey Mikes, or any other location for...
