Last night, we went there to take Grandma out for a nice meal. We’re always bragging about the Black Bear up in Alliance Town Center area, and she was like, “they just put one near my place, let’s go!” So, we did, and it was the most disappointing meal ever. From the beginning to the end. Tiffany was our second server, and this poor girl couldn’t catch a break. She had a great upbeat personality which is far better than literally anyone else working last night. But the cook staff or something just wasn’t jiving and it all went wrong from there. Our order consisted of: Ribs w/ corn (the only seasonal vegetable they have), club sandwich, turkey, and two of these had salads. Grandma’s order of Ribs came out first. They didn’t give us any silverware until the manager, James, finally turned around from his seat on the barstool, and said, “what are y’all missing?” And there was no other food waiting at the kitchen. We were missing two meals, silverware, salads, cornbread muffins, and refills on drinks. I ordered the turkey with the gravy on the side because I wasn’t sure if I would like the gravy, she admitted that she told them no, it was supposed to be on it. So, it came out with gravy on it, and when James asked what we needed, I told him that I ordered it with gravy on the side and his reply is, “so, what do you want me to do about it?” This question would end up being speculated as the only phrase he knows as it was a repetitive one. I said, “I guess scrap the gravy off the turkey and just give me new mashed potatoes.” He laughs, “I can’t scrap that off, I’ll have them remake it.” Okay, so why didn’t you just say that in the first place? Then, the meal that took 15 minutes or more to cook, that came out after ribs was done magically in 2 minutes. They handed me the food. I went to eat the potatoes, and they were ice cold!!!! I thought at first that it was because I had just drank a sip of water, so I stuck my finger in the potatoes to see if I was wrong. NOPE, they were cold. So, I called James back over. Because of his already terrible behavior and cold demeanor towards us, I suggested he touch the potatoes in case he didn’t believe me. And we still hadn’t received our salads at this time. She drops off my salad, only, and walks away. James asks “What can we do? What do you want instead?” and I’m like, “I’m not hungry now. This has been an unappetizing experience. Maybe I’ll try the salad, unless it’s hot, it’s hard to %^ that up.” I inform him that Grandma still hasn’t gotten her salad. Her salad arrives, a different waitress brings it. We still have not received refills, cranberry sauce didn’t come either time with my food, nor have we received the cornbread muffins. James comes back over. I’m like, “we still haven’t received these items.” “What do you want me to do?” So, this time I replied, “What I want you to do is better. Be better. Do better. This isn’t a bi%ch fest, this is a teaching moment. Y’all have only been open for a few months, and if this is how service and food goes around here, you won’t be open for very many more months.” We never received any of those other items. Not one of them. Grandma wanted to bring the extra turkey home and I told her it wasn’t worth it since it only took them 2 minutes to cook it. They bring us our check… What do you think is on the check? They said they’d take off my turkey. That was LITERALLY the ONLY thing on the final check they handed us. Okay, that’s weird. We go up front to cash out. The guy’s like, “this is a closed ticket.” We’re like, “what? This is the one she said was due.” So, he leaves for like 3 to 5 minutes, and finally comes back to say, “don’t worry about it everything was taken care of.” I inform James that we never received any of our other items. And I did take the copy of the receipt in case Black Bear Diner needed any of the...
Read moreSunday after church around 1:00pm was pretty packed. It was my boyfriend and I. the wait was 25 minutes, but we got in after 15.
PROS: ✅ ATMOSPHERE -is a fun Colorado cabin style, it was clean and taken care of and a nice smell. Our table and seat were clean as well as the others around us and also workers cleaning.🧹
STAFF-The first hostess was a young girl with red hair and she was kind, our waitress Jolene, it was very sweet and apologetic because our service did take a while and talk to the manager and got five dollars taken off our tickets because of our wait time without us even having to ask. She did a well job on updating us. There is also a tall African-American guy with chains and an arm, tattoos, and he was nice as well. ✅
FOOD- The mashed potatoes and gravy were good as well as the bacon (taste wise) and the turkey club sandwich.
CONS: ❌
STAFF- it took us about 45 minutes to receive our food we had the Grizz and the turkey club. I understand that it was busy but for the size portions, I feel like it could have been done quicker. There was a couple times we could hear the staff yelling at each other through the window.
FOOD-for the Grizz, we were pretty disappointed in the size because the menu makes it sound like it is a very large meal as well stating the bacon is a thick cut. as a ham steak, which we believe that it must’ve been cut into thirds because it was not even the size of half a ham steak. The bacon was skinny, and the pancakes tasted like they were made out of a box and were very light in color. We got a fresh fruit side, which was only melon and TWO grapes. We were at least expecting a variety of melon like maybe some cantaloupe or something or some strawberries or anything than just honeydew. The turkey club was quite delicious. It was eaten on sourdough bread and the mashed potatoes and gravy were honestly really good so there wasn’t really an issue with that order.
This being said there was a piece of lettuce on the Grizz plate that had like four different types of crumbs on it as well as a piece of cheese that was not even in the food that we were getting so it seems like maybe it was on the counter or something, but it was pretty un appetizing and seemed a little worrisome as well as a red Substance on the pancake plate when there was nothing else red on the food that we were eating, which makes me feel like the plates were dirty. WE WILL TRY AGAIN!!! we’d like to try again since we really like the atmosphere and the food wasn’t horrible, but maybe at a different time during the day or a...
