I hate that I have to share this review, as I have never been treated this way at this location. On Friday, October 7, 2022, my son and I went into this location with the sole purpose of looking for pink football socks, which we found, thankfully. While enjoying our son (he's 11) and mother's store run, I told him he could grab a new mouthpiece and that we would also look for cleats. He found a mouthpiece that he really loved but then picked another one because he worried it would be too much money (I was unaware he had changed it). After looking around, we headed to the counter with the mouthpiece(which I still hadn't seen), the socks, and two pairs of crocs and croc charms. An associate, Trevor, said he could help the next customer in line, so we headed to his line. We placed our items on the counter that is when I noticed the difference in mouthpieces, so I told my son, no, I wasn't getting that one. I was not too fond of it and that he needed to get the one we originally agreed upon. Trevor took it upon himself to ask my son, "well do you like it." My son didn't say anything because he really didn't like it. He was just trying to save me money. I said, "that's not the mouthpiece we chose; he only picked it up trying to save me money," I laughed it off because I knew why my son did what he did. Trevor then goes on to say, " well, why can't he get this one?" Not that it mattered, but "because I said so and again, that's not the one we chose, and I don't like it." He then goes, "well, what if I give you a discount" (at this point is when I started thinking, is this because I am an African American female because I have never known a store employee to negotiate a discounted price for any discrepancy or was he trying to be funny). I said no thank you and sent my son to go get the one we originally agreed upon. My son's smile (which always makes my day) lit up from ear to ear. Trevor then rolled his eyes and continued to ring me up (at this point, I turned around to check for my son); his tone changed, and he said, "it will be $166..." I turned around and said, "is that with the mouthpiece he is grabbing?" He rolled his eyes again and said, "no, I can't hold up the line." There was no one else in line behind me. At this point, I am upset because how dare you. So I said you can just hold it until my son comes back. So as all of my items were placed in a bag, he threw them on the counter behind him and asked for the next person in another line. At this point, I wasn't aware that the associate in the stall next to him was the manager; she just looked at him and said, "Trevor" (like you know, you were wrong). After my son came with the mouthpiece, I went to the front and asked for a manager, and then there came the lady from the next register. I explained that his behavior was very uncalled for. She apologized for him and said she could ring me up at her register and that she would talk to him, but I think that was just being courteous so that I would leave...
Read moreI spent over 1000 in the store back in May. I purchased a rod that I only used 3 times and it snapped when I set the hook on a fish that ended up weighing around 3 to 4 lbs. The man up front told me that he would replace the rod( which is what I wanted him to do), also,, a g x 2 ugly stik rod and reel that the reel was frozen up on before it ever was put into the water. I also brought it in to be replaced. He stated that usually the return would need to be made within 90 days but that he would go ahead and give me store credit because I had my receipt. I told him that I simply wanted to replace them. Neither of them had a scratch other than where my Rod snapped when I was setting my hook on a largemouth bass. While he took my items to the return desk, my husband and I went to find the replacements. Once found, I took them to the man so that they could be exchanged, he told me that he was sorry and wouldn't be able to help me after all. I asked if there was anyone else there that I might be able to talk to and he replied to me that he was the store manager. Then he had me to walk with him to see another lady. She told me that she wouldn't be able to accept it because it had been over 60 days. The store manager said the policy was usually 90 days but that he would help me. This other lady tells me 60 days and was very rude. I paid 140 dollars for that rod and 50 dollars for the ugly stik combo. Not to mention the other items that I purchased. Again, over 1000 bucks spent, only to find out i can't be helped. Hell, I couldn't even get...
Read moreI will never shop at that Academy in Burleson again.....I found a Mossberg 702 magazine that had been returned and the package was taped and stapled 10 kids of different ways. It looked like hell so I asked the girl if I could get a 20% discount atleast because judging by the way the package looked, I was taking a chance of this magazine being messed up. They are known to to stick after putting 12 rounds in it and if you start forcing them in after that then you can damage the inside and you can see it from the outside, It's fixable but a pain to do. The checkout girl asked the little blond headed "team lead" teeny bop girl if she could give me a discount because of the package, even she agreed it looked bad. The "Blondie team lead" told I couldn't have a discount that I had to take a chance and if it didn't work than bring it back for a refund.....so I'm going to do all of that?!?! Ummmm....NO!! I will definitely be going back and talking to the manager tomorrow. Last time I asked about the magazine they were okay with giving me a 20% discount but realized I forgot my wallet at home and didn't go back because I figured it would be gone by the time I got back. I ran in to it tonite again (having my wallet this time) and now there's an issue with it?? I'm sorry but they need team lead that ACTUALLY knows customer service.....that tonite was not customer service at all!! I hope a Burleson store manager sees this....I will start shopping at Gander Mountain or Cabelas, they always make it right when the customer isn't...
