Cousin's Bar-B-Q: A Fort Worth Gem When it comes to barbecue in Fort Worth, there's one spot that consistently hits the mark: Cousin's Bar-B-Q on Bryant Irvin Road. This local favorite has been serving up mouthwatering, Texas-style barbecue for years, and it's easy to see why they've become a staple in the community. The Barbecue: A Symphony of Smoke and Flavor

Let's talk about the star of the show: the barbecue. Cousin's smokes their meats to perfection, resulting in tender, juicy, and flavorful dishes that will leave you wanting more. Here are some highlights: Brisket: The award-winning beef brisket is a must-try. It's melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a smoky flavor that will have you coming back for seconds. Ribs: Whether you prefer pork or beef, Cousin's ribs are fall-off-the-bone delicious. The meat is perfectly cooked, and the smoky flavor is out of this world. Sausage: The sausage is made in-house and is packed with flavor. It's the perfect complement to the other meats on the menu. Chicken, Turkey, and Ham: Don't sleep on the other smoked meats! The chicken, turkey, and ham are all cooked to perfection and offer a delicious alternative to the beef and pork options. The Atmosphere: A Blend of Old and New

Cousin's recently underwent a major renovation, and the results are impressive. The restaurant now features:

Enlarged Indoor Bar Area: The perfect spot to grab a drink and catch up with friends. Huge Covered Patio: Enjoy your meal al fresco on the spacious patio, complete with heaters and fans for year-round comfort. Wednesday Specials: A Mid-Week Treat

Wednesday is the day to be at Cousin's. They offer fantastic happy hour specials, including:

$5 Well Cocktails: A great way to unwind after a long day. $3 Domestic Beer: Enjoy your favorite beer at a great price. Half-Price Burgers: These burgers are huge, delicious, and a steal at half price. Nachos and More: Other tasty food specials are also available. Don't Forget the Margaritas!

Cousin's serves up a mean margarita. Their jalapeno margarita on the rocks is a must-try for those who like a little spice. They also offer a great selection of frozen margaritas for those who prefer a sweeter option. Cousin's Bar-B-Q: A Fort Worth Tradition Cousin's Bar-B-Q on Bryant Irvin Road is a Fort Worth institution. With its delicious barbecue, inviting atmosphere, and fantastic Wednesday specials, it's no wonder why locals keep coming back for more. Whether you're a barbecue aficionado or just looking for a great meal, Cousin's is...

STRIKE 1 - Let me first start by reducing this one star to ZERO stars as Google review doesn't give you the option for that. We walked in to have dinner (the was no one else in line and the place was not busy) approached the food counter and was not greeted by the staff. They just look at you with that look like they are put out to have to wait on you as if they didn't want to be there.

STRIKE 2 - My husband ordered first which was a meat sandwich. He diligently watched as the guy cut and weighed the meat to a 1/4 lb. The staff guy overshot the amount of meat he put on the scale so he removed the extra and threw the rest in the trash. Now as the exact 1/4 lb that was suppose to go on the sandwich was picked up from the scale to put on the sandwich, a piece of the meat was dropped, placed in the trash without replacing with another piece so we received less than 1/4 of meat for the sandwich. My husband proceeded on down the serving line to the register (overlooking what the guy did even though we have witnessed this many times before ) as I was about to order.

STRIKE 3 - I ordered a 1/4 chicken (bone in) plate which was $9. Would you believe the staff (the guy carving the meat) finally SPOKE. He told me they were OUT of chicken but they had boneless (which was $11). I told him I did not want boneless unless they were going to offer it to me for the same price. Literally, the guy looked at me with this blank face and was speechless didn't utter a word. After I repeated myself again about offering it to me for the same price I still got no response. Finally, my husband came back down the line to ask me what the problem was and I explained to him what the deal was. My husband told the guy that I only eat chicken and not any other type of meat and that it was there problem they were out of bone in chicken not ours and that if they didn't give me the boneless for the same price that it was a deal breaker. Again, the guy didn't utter a word but instead gave a nod of the head indicating NO. My husband said that's it walked back down to the register to pick up his tray of food, walked back down and put it on the counter and said here ya go you can throw this food out along with the rest you already threw it. WE LEFT!

Well, three strikes (all in one night)….....

2nd visit 5/27/2024: So this is my first time coming for the actual bbq. It was like a 5 out of 10. I got the Old School Tray. With collard greens and mac n cheese as my 2 sides. The collard greens was decent except for the woody bits that they should take care in preparation. The mac n cheese though? Horrid. I am attaching a video of it. Its soupy as heck. I regret spending the $40 on this tray. Sausage bites were ok. Brisket tasted medicinal. Pulled pork was forgettable. I am saddened as this changes my original review. It is sad because this was such a lackluster visit compared to my first time. I did not finish my meal so Im still hungry which is the biggest insult as a patron. Ive been known to shovel through mediocre food but this was unforgiveable.

1st visit: First of all - there needs to be more people here for happy hour because yall are CRAZY to pass up these deals. The burger was well seasoned, fries were not my fave and the brisket nachos was really good. The drinks are boozed well for a happy hour deal. The margaritas are large.

My bartender, Olga, is super nice, quick and great conversationalist. She makes you want to stick around with her positive vibes, awesome smile and clear love for hospitality. I cannot say it enough - come here! Also, make sure to tip well because on a Wednesday night during Happy Hour she was the only one in the bar darting around while the kitchen kept cranking meals out to her with a Tom Segura lookalike (a compliment, I promise) bringing them out to her. Its a really nice, cohesive environment with great music (I am not a fan of...

This was my first visit to Cousins and to be honest I was disappointed. The restaurant is homey and inviting. The staff was helpful and friendly. No complaints about those two at all. I had a sliced brisket sandwich, Mac & cheese, and corn. They didn't have any bread such as a roll available that I saw or was offered. The brisket was ok it had a good smoke ring, it was cooked right soft with some pull to it. It wasn't over cooked falling apart. That's the only part. The flavor was lacking. There was very little of the smoke flavor or any seasoning. It just didn't have anything special that set it apart. On to the sides, first the Mac and cheese. The cheese was very thin, about as soupy as the BBQ sauce. The pasta itself were just small elbows. The flavor was not good. No salt, no pepper, no nothing. I didn't even finish it and I love Mac and cheese. To me they would be better off serving Kraft Mac and cheese from the box and less water in the cheese. The corn was bland and had no good flavor to it. I again think they will be better off serving some Delmonte sweet corn out of a can. Next the BBQ sauce. although it was very runny it had a decent flavor with a little pepper kick to it. It wasn't spicy, you could just see and taste the heavy pepper usage in the sauce. It wasn't anything special, just an average sauce. I prefer my sauce a little thicker as well. Overall it was ok. I wouldn't not go out of my way to eat here again. There is so much better BBQ that can be found in and around Fort Worth that you don't need to settle for average or below. I would not recommend it. Sorry folks.

I have been to this location multiple times and never had any issues, except this last time. I'm not sure if they had a new hire cutting the meat or what, but they cut the bark and fat off (the flavor) off my cut. I did request lean, which is the flat side of the brisket and any self respecting restaurant and brisket fanatic knows that doesn't mean to cut the fat off. It's a pretty good deal, meat and sides for a reasonable price. The brisket is usually delicious, perhaps a little too much salt but delicious nonetheless. And usually ordering lean, I get what I want and they don't cut the fat off. This time they did and it ruined the brisket and the visit. Sides are usually pretty good, not much deviation but sometimes will get undercooked okra. Okra is finicky, a few seconds too long and it's burnt so I don't have any issues there. The relaxed bar room and dining room are cozy and welcoming. I will be back again but hopefully the cutter will cut the meat. I wish more restaurants understand that the end user can pull off the little bit of fat themselves and just cut the brisket as is. Leave the fat and flavor on it. I will update my review after my next visit. That is all....
