Both of their locations in Ft. Worth are going under. These places used to be so popping and full of life and music and wonderful Cajun food. What happened? New owners? The Gator Tail used to come with hushpuppies, fries, corn on the cob, and the gator tail, but now for 13 bucks, you just get a few fries and a few bites of gator tail in a cereal bowl (literally a small cereal bowl, the size you would use as a water bowl for a pet). It's not worth the price. It almost feels like it should been an appetizer for the cereal bowl and a few fries and about 5 bites of the meat. and the service has gone way under. The hostesses from both places seem to be very scared to speak to customers when being approached to be seated and it looks very unprofessional when a customer enters the building and then all you see is the hostesses on their phone with looks like a deer looking into headlights. The bartender at the one off of Bryant Irving (day shift) she looked like she didn't know how to be a bartender or a wait. She had no pad or pen to write our order, and then she came out with our food, and she had gotten the order wrong. Then she never came back to the table to check on us. I was looking for the salt, pepper shakers but none of the tables had them and i was looking for the ketchup but was not on the table as well and i would have asked for all of that if our wait/bartender was around. I had to speak loud enough for her to hear us on a refill of our drinks. She was not busy at all when we went in, she had like 2 customers at the time, but I believe the waits were busy due to us having to be seated at the bar. The drinks are great, but the service, atmosphere, food, and quality have all gone down hill bad. There are better places in ft. Worth to spend money at but not at these two locations ever again. The management also didn't seem professional as well. Idk it just felt like I went to go eat at a small cheap restaurant in a small town. It would have been way cheaper to just go to a Captian D's fast food restaurant and eat there. $100 for 4 people with three of those meals being gator tail. (Cereal bowl, very little fries, and few bites of gator tail.)...
Read moreOkay so first off the food is great. Secondly the bartenders were absolutely fantastic and provided outstanding service.
Why the two star review from a top 2% Google reviewer? Management and hosting. We came in with a party of three at around 8:00 p.m. on a Sunday. No rush. No line. The two hostesses told us there was going to be about 30 minute wait to get a seat. We asked about high tops at the bar or bar seating and they said there was also a wait there. A LIE. Another small party of customers ahead of us left when they heard the wait time. I watched the money needlessly walk out the door. A shame in this economy.
We went up and sat at the bar with no issues and were immediately served by the outstanding bartenders who were being screwed by the management and the hostesses by preventing customers from being seated there. No customers = no tips.
When I sat down I counted the number of high tops and booths in the store that I could see from my vantage point that were empty... There were almost 20! (A booth seats up to 4, a high top 1-2) There were also over 12 bar seats. What the hell?!?! Why did the hostesses (with a female manager with ear gauges standing next to them/they) try to make us wait? Too busy trying to count pronouns from the look of it. (FYI - I don't care if you hire trans people, I care if you hire GOOD people)
Why would customers be told they needed to wait 30 minutes when there was ample seating available? Even if they were short on waiters and waitresses there were at least 12 seats at the bar available with three bartenders.
This is either gross incompetence on the part of management or gross-favoritism towards servers by management.
Either way this is a management problem. If you have three people at the hostess stand and are short on servers..... Put two of them on serving tables.
This is pretty simple stuff. Turning customers away or making them unnecessarily wait when you have an abundance of seating available is not only irresponsible management it's also financially...
Read moreWhen I tell you I that I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. I am not even kidding. My first experience here was great. The waiters open the door as you walk in. The jazz music sets the atmosphere for the theme of the restaurant. We came around 4 and they had some appetizers only for $5 like the popcorn shrimp for example. The middle aged waiter we had was okay. We just didn't like how he dropped down certain items but when he did pass us items, it was fine. The food is PHENOMENAL! The crab cakes was one of my favorites. It was an appetizer but I wish they had it as a meal. I got the grilled salmon potatoes, and string beans. My family all tried different meals so I was able to taste test a few meals they have. Everything was delicious that I tried. The catfish was another favorite of mine. I'm telling you just go. The reason why Im giving it 4 stars is because we went back a week later and had a older female waitress and she did something similar with the dropping of the straws and tossing down the utensils but when she handed us something it was fine, but there was a couple of times when she would bypass our extended hand and put it on the table instead, so I didn't like how it felt like it was racial thing, even though they both talked kindly, because I watched her and the waiter we had the last time do the same similar act to other brown/black and Hispanic ppl but I did not see them do this to white ppl. I doubt that they are the only 2 waiters there so this may not happen to everyone but next time we're just going...
