The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is not bad. The staff was very polite â every server greeted us with a smile, which was truly pleasant. However, the quality of the rolls was disappointing. They started falling apart as soon as we picked them up with chopsticks. The fried rolls were overly greasy, and the oil tasted old, as if it hadnât been changed in a while. That left an unpleasant aftertaste.
Another issue was the avocado â it was clearly unripe and had a crunchy texture, which is not what you expect or want when eating sushi.
On a positive note, the sashimi was excellent. It was served nicely chilled, with a soft and delicate texture. That part of the meal was really enjoyable.
The ambiance of the place left something to be desired. It was quite dark inside, and the lighting that was there didnât help much. The tables were scratched up, which felt inconsistent with the restaurantâs high 4.9-star rating. It made me wonder how that rating was achieved.
There was also no real sense of coziness or warmth in the decor. Still, the staffâs friendly smiles helped brighten the experience to some degree.
We asked for extra wasabi and ginger, but both seemed dried out â as if they had been sitting out for a long time or might even be reused, which is concerning. I canât be sure, but that was the impression.
Also, I personally prefer a menu with pictures. It helps to know exactly what dish to expect when ordering.
In summary, it wasnât a terrible experience, but I wouldnât return a...
Read moreWas over in Davenport for the evening and was looking for an AYCE sushi restaurant. Google pointed us to Musashi, and it didnât disappoint! To be honest, we had never tried Brazilian sushi before. It was super unique and absolutely delicious. When we arrived, we were greeted by Lucas who escorted us to a table immediately. He informed us that the normal dinner prices are $40 per person. He took our drink orders and we put in some appetizers. Lucas was so warm and kind, a showed the utmost respect to his guests, pardoning himself whenever he walked up to the tables. The tuna tataki and salmon carpaccio was absolutely delicious, drizzled with what I believe to be ponzu sauce. We also each got an order of ceviche, which was citrusy and yummy. For our rolls, we ordered a Volcano Roll, Philadelphia Roll, a Spicy Tuna Roll, and a Dorito Roll. But by far, the absolute BEST roll we tried was the Picanha Roll. It comes with the most delicious fried crunchy garlic on top of it and I couldnât get enough! Highly recommend ordering it, even if you have to order it off the main menu. We ordered the guava cheese harumaki, and oh man it was good! I also suggest trying the old fashioned. It was perfect. If youâre looking for some different variety of sushi and interested in trying some Brazilian Japanese fusion, Musashi should be on your list of...
Read moreI am mystified as to how this place has 4.8 stars. For being in the lobby of a Comfort Inn, the atmosphere was fine, but the plates and table were dirty. We thought about the AYCE but were very glad we didnât. The 3 adults all got sushi rolls and had similarly negative experiences. The fish wasnât fresh and the rice was worse than supermarket sushi. They also didnât come with anything else on the plate (no ginger, no wasabi, not even a garnish), nor did the server ask if weâd like anything. The service overall was fairly inattentive, though our server was nice enough.
At the end of the meal, when prodded, my friend was honest about our experience and the server apologized but added, âWell, itâs not really my fault.â After we paid the manager came to talk to us and said that it was âBrazilianâ sushi so maybe not what we were used to. No where on the website or menu does it say that and bad fish and bad rice mean bad sushi, regardless of the style. She offered us a desert as we were standing to leave but at that point we declined. I would have added a star had they taken more ownership for the failure, or at least not made excuses, because the kids liked their calamari...
