A local favorite of ours is Sal’s Mexican Restaurant! Although we’re used to going to the one in Madera, the one in Fresno is now more convenient with my recent move. One thing I can say between the two locations, is that the flavor is delicious and consistent with the quality of food at every visit! Although, depending on the time and day, there has been occasions where we’ve waited for a table for 2, in my opinion it was worth it to get to enjoy the fine dishes offered here. Compared to other restaurants where you also have to wait for a table regardless, at least we get the best quality food and service here, so the wait isn’t bad. As for the service, all the staff that we’ve had the pleasure of being assisted by, have been very friendly and made sure that every visit was a great one. Making sure we also have enough chips and salsa, and always topping off our drinks! As for the food, it’s always seasoned very well and full of delicious flavor that I find other places don’t compare to. It’s simple dishes, but not to be underestimated. I’d like to thank the staff and chefs for always taking care of us and we highly recommend Sal’s for any occasion with friends, family, and significant others. The dish I recommend the most is the combination plate! It’s the best value for what you get, where you can mix and match what your items are to get a variety of flavors out of every visit. Although, me personally, I usually just get 2-3 enchiladas while my partner sticks to 2-3 tacos! Overall, Sal’s Mexican Restaurant in Fresno is a great location to visit for great food and great service, even if there are certain days and times where the busyness of the place creates a bit of a wait. In my opinion, it just shows how many people are willing to wait for just a taste of their delicious food! Will definitely be back soon! Special shout out to our server, Percilla (I hope I spelled it right), for taking care of us tonight. She offered us fantastic service, was very kind, and took really good care of us dining in!

So I've decided to up date my review from a 3 to a 4 star. I usually just order take out because this place is just right across the street from my house. But tonight we decided to go in and have dinner. I was honestly a little put off by the ambiance I feel like it's a little minimum for a place that's been around since 1942 or what ever the signed outside said but the food is pretty good. I had the chili riano and enchilana plate and it was pretty good but just a heads up they make there chili rianos with bell pepper, it was still pretty good. My son had the kids bean and cheese burrito and my wife got tacos. A pretty basic meal but everyone liked there food :) service was great and parking was good to. I'd proably still give this place 4 stars even if they stepped up there decor lol.

I love Mexican food, especially tacos. I’ve eaten at this Sals before. Apparently there is one booth that the staff totally forgets about and so happens, that’s where they seated my wife and I. We watched other people come in, be seated, have their orders taken, food brought to them, and leave, all before our order was even taken. After almost an hour of waiting for our food, we were getting ready to leave when our order finally came out. Not good. We wanted soup but they were totally out, so I ordered an asada taco a la carte (see picture), and my wife ordered a bean burrito. The taco was dry and the meat over cooked. I couldn’t finish it. Just not happy with being forgotten, TWICE!

I called in this order for carry out this past Saturday. I ordered the fancy burrito, a side of rice then asked about combo plates for tacos. Corina answered my call and suggested i order the $13+, 2 tacos combo plate as being most cost effective. I did this and she advised 20 minutes, I give the person picking up the food name and my phone number and we hung up. 40 minutes later my bf comes back with 1 fancy burrito and a small side of rice AND with McDonald's! Corina took down my order incorrectly which I'm still trying to understand because we had like a 5 minute conversation and SHE suggested that particular plate but didn't even bother to note it..? When he came back, he said that when he went in, he let her know that he is there to pick up an order and she asked if he wanted to sit at the bar or a booth.. which leads me to believe she's not paying attention... Or just doesn't care. She ran his card, gave it back, said nothing and sat people who came in after him. Maybe you should finish with the first customer, right in front of you or at least, let someone what youre doing. Another worker came up and asked if he'd been helped and a few minutes later, he and corina came out from the back with the order. He questioned the order and she said thats all that was ordered. You took the order yourself 20 minutes ago! He took the order and we got charged an additional $6 for chips and salsa, even after our order was wrong lol.. When he got home and told me about this, I called to speak to.corina as i made the order with her and she answered again. As i was trying to.explain to what happened or rather ask her, she kept saying she couldn't hear what I was saying. Then she put me.on hold to "look into it". What's there to look into? My call was to ask her specifically what happened. After being on hold for about 6 minutes, the phone hung up and she never even bothered to call back and follow up.. I mean, why would she I guess. She probably couldnt even if she wanted though because as the receipt reflected, she didn't even bother to write the phone number down correctly either. The point is, mistakes happen but it's crucial to be accountable and maybe simply apologize and at least pretend like you care about the work you're doing. Not...

I ordered my food at 12:55p...when 2:14p rolled around and I still hadn't received my food..I walked over to see what was going on, and the young lady looked at me and said she forgot about my order. .and had to remake it.

I originally just wanted my refund at that point, and I wish I would have just gotten one..but instead I was patient, and waited for my food to be remade since I had paid for it inadvance..i work next door at the salon, and we dont always have time to eat lunch so we try our best to schedule our eating windows accordingly so when you have to wait longer when you called in advance, and then you've now missed your eating window. You cant be surprised if your customer is upset. Not to mention we all buy from this particular sals weekly, due to convenience of location. I'd think that better care and service would go into those who you work near.

With that being said..my lunch was absolutely horrible.

I ordered macho nachos to try for the first time. I've only ordered grilled chicken individually, or chips and salsa in the past, as I am very sensitive to most foods. I've not eaten an actual meal here before and I will never again after today.

I finally got my lunch it was cold. I had a heaping pile of shredded lettuce, a few cubes of tomatoes. With cold boiled peices of flavorless, unshredded- "shredded" chicken. And let's not forget the best part.... that it WAS SEASONED WITH SOME ONES LONG HAIR INSIDE THE NACHOS with a little bit of white cheese!!!

Needless to say I did NOT finish eating my food..and WASTED $15 on the worse nachos I've ever had in my life.

Staff needs to greatly improve their customer service skills. And the kitchen needs to improve as well. I'm surprised no ones called inspections for food violations.

Food spoils at room temperature and food born pathogens start to form at room temperature. This is how people get sick. Hair is like a sponge, it absorbs air pollution as well as bacteria if people dont wash their hair daily. If staff is serving or handling food with out hair nets, its is a health issue. Food safety is more than just...
