As few downsides: they stop serving breakfast too early in my opinion. Not everyone gets up at 7:30 or 8 on a weekend. Especially a three day holiday weekend. The place seems to have a few maintenance issues, like my bathroom door jamming up and not wanting to close all the way, the toilet clogging and the maintenance guy plunging it but leaving the smell and some remains left in the toilet (housecleaning will clean it up later he said), yuck. The shower handle was very hard to operate and felt like it was going to fall off, the elevator in the hotel (the only one available) was noisy and felt a bit clunky, some of the doors around the indoor pool looked like they could really use replacing - they were rusty and looked like mold or something growing. Last issue was that I'm a choice rewards member and they didn't seem to acknowledge that at all.
Now onto the good, cause I did like things about my stay too. The breakfast was really good, they ran out of things a few times, but stocked it up again fairly quickly. The coffee was okay (nothing to write home about), the seating area was what I consider a little small for the size of hotel, but they did have some other furniture right outside in the lounge area people used to sit and eat also.
The indoor pool was a nice feature, you would think for a place like Fresno that still gets relatively cold and wet in the winter, they would have more of these but I've only encountered 2 or 3 hotels in all of Fresno area with indoor pools. The water temperature was okay, could have stood to have been slightly warmer, especially since there was no hot-tub and I swear someone said that there was. Maybe they took it out. The fresh warm towels when you get out was a nice touch.
The service at the counter was very friendly.
The foldout couch from the bed was handy, I really have a hard time finding good solutions for a hotel with 3 kids and 2 adults and I think it's rediculous to pay for 2 rooms and split up the family when there is enough room for us, but not always enough bed space. Like sharing 3 people on a queen size or 4 on a king, really? Have you ever tried sleeping with a small child? Lol
Tv channels were fine, beds were fine, more pillows would have been a nice bonus. Thermostat in the room was a nice touch, even though I didn't find it to be what seemed particularly accurate. But it worked.
The location is somewhat convenient, but the frontage road is a bit confusing when you first arrive.
Whatever you do, if you plan to stay here, then I would think twice about going to the Denny's right by there. Maybe consider reading my review on there first....
Read moreI stay at Choice Hotels once or twice per week, all year long. I'm an elite platinum member and Choice is kind of a home away from home. Your customer service is generally great. Your speed of service is also great. I plan on continuing to stay there, I just have one concern: housekeeping. I've slowly seen the quality of housekeeping go down each time I'm there. The last time I stayed there, there was something crusty on the desk that wasn't removed when they cleaned the room. I've found things stuck to the desk, the TV stand, and the coffee table several times. It just seems to be an area that is missed frequently. They also don't have a routine in place for vacuuming the edges of the carpet. If you walk around the room you'll see the last 2 inches of carpet by the baseboards is full of dust and debris. This last time there was also a foreign substance on the nightstand and something that had splattered on the closet door mirror that the housekeepers apparently didn't see. Hopefully you guys can retrain and coach the housekeepers, maybe get them a checklist. Again I enjoy Choice Hotels but this aspect of the service is the one part I feel needs attention. People that stay there for business spend the majority of their time in the room and notice these things. Also on a side note, the elevator on my last stay there was not working properly. I was in the elevator when someone on another floor pressed the call button and the elevator immediately stopped and shuddered violently and then continued on its way normally. Then someone on another floor pressed the call button and it did the same thing again. Thanks for...
Read moreLobby area was very lovely, 9pm check in was efficient and host (Suzanne?) was friendly. The room smelled of must, the carpets were stained, the paint on the bathroom door was chipping, the screen on our ground floor room was broken and popped out of its track. The doors in the pool area had holes from being eaten by rust and more rust at the bottom of them, the pool was in need of cleaning. No hot tub like their webpage showed, which is a big reason I booked this hotel. Our bathroom door locked with no one inside; the front desk host brought to the room an alan-wrench type tool that did not open it. To get it open I ended up using a room card key to get between the lock and the door frame; like you would with a credit card on a poorly secured door. I stayed up a bit and booked a different room somewhere else and cancelled the remainder of our stay at Comfort Suites. When I talked to the host in the morning there was no gesture to try and rectify the situation, to try and turn a frown upside down, or show that we were valued as guests. I felt as though I was not taken seriously because I wasn't speaking in a tone that was raised or rude, they were serious complaints and I was incredibly upset. It was a truly disappointing stay and we will never stay again as we found a hotel that was leaps and bounds better at a...
