Olive Garden is our go-to spot on most weekends. Typically, I go to the Grand Rapids locations, however since we were in Muskegon today, we came to this specific Olive Garden and unfortunately we will not be returning. We like to assume we’re an easy table considering we always get the same entree and are ready to order our food on the server’s first trip to our table. This time, while we tried to place our order, I asked for one side of alfredo sauce with my entree (which I always do with no issues). The server said she couldn’t complete my request, but offered a 5$ up-charge on endless amounts of other sauces including the alfredo. So i’m thinking 5$ is a little too much for one side of sauce. Then, I ask “I can’t get just the one side of Alfredo?”.. she replies “I can bring you a side of carbonara for $2.49.” At that point, I gave up on trying to fight for a side of sauce. My partner also tried to figure out why it was so much just to get a side of Alfredo, to which the server had started to put up an argument and we were just not impressed with how she handled the situation. Keep in mind this was all happening before we got our drinks, so the rest of the dining experience was awkward The server was very quick to drop off our food. Each check-in was short and she was almost already walking away before we could even respond. Food was good (although not how I would’ve preferred without the Alfredo). Very disappointed in the server and the manager who was enforcing this rule of ONLY allowing the “never-ending” sauce.. because as the server put it “its 100$ for a gallon and they need to make money on it”… With the amount of “Endless” entrees Olive Garden has offered throughout the years, you would think they would have room to spare with maybe a $1-$2 up-charge for one side of alfredo sauce. As a server myself, sauce is the least of my worries. If something as small as a side of sauce is going to make you happy, then you’re getting that sauce and I will make it my mission lol. That’s how you get yourself a nice tip. We’ve had multiple other locations that have completed our request with no hesitation or pushback. Not impressed with this Muskegon location. I wish I knew the name of the server, but she had dark hair, pretty eyes with winged eyeliner,...
Read moreI remember going regularly to Olive Garden years ago and the food was always great. It was a nice evening out with friends. I haven't been in several years, but had a gift card to use and went for dinner with my husband last night. It was a Tuesday evening in August and the restaurant was semi-busy, but we were welcomed and seated immediately. Our table had been wiped, but not been wiped well - to the point that my husband's menu stuck to the table and left paper from the menu in front of him. No biggie, we both laughed. As we waited, we noted how tired the place looked. The curtains desperately need replacing. The decor and finishings just look like they need some attention. Our waiter was kind. I liked him. But, as time went on, as nice as he was, he wasn't very attentive. He didn't fill my husband's empty water glass (the only beverage we were drinking) and there were other issues where we needed something, but he had disappeared. The food was not great. We ordered the famous Olive Garden unlimited breadsticks and salad, along with Minestrone and Zuppa Toscana soup and we split The Tour of Italy. I have had all these items before so I knew what to expect. The salad was probably the best part of our meal. It was fresh and tasted good. The Minestrone soup looked nice, but it was bland. The Zuppa Toscana was flavorful. Luckily, we had unlimited soup, so we just ordered another Zuppa Toscana and left the Minestrone. It took quite a while to receive our first order of unlimited breadsticks. I typically love to have those with my salad. We had finished with both our soup and salad by the time our first order arrived. Three measly breadsticks - and they were not at all what I remembered. They tasted like cheap, plain dough. There was no seasoning on them. We asked for another order and the second order didn't come out right away either. When they did, they were slightly better, but still had little to no seasoning on them. They were definitely nothing like what I remembered Olive Garden's breadsticks to be! So sad. We had a gift card, so it made paying for the so-so food and mediocre experience a lot more palatable. *I see my review seems to be out of place as far as my lower rating goes. I hope my experience was just a rarity and...
Read moreOrdered family style Chicken Alfredo dinner for pickup. Absolutely delicious! Comes with a foil quarter pan of fettuccine & chicken, 2 foil eighth pans of Alfredo Sauce, a huge plastic bowl of Salad, small bowl of garlic croutons and a bag of breadsticks.
The online menu said it feeds 4 - 6. We were able to feed 6 adults & 2 children with this meal, although if we had more salad eaters, it could have fed even more. Although it seemed pretty pricey (around $100 with tax, tip, etc) it worked out pretty reasonable considering it would have cost about the same to purchase the ingredients & then have to cook it on top of that.
One thing that pleasantly surprised me was the disposable serving utensils included with the meal. For other value-conscious people (that means I'm cheap) - these utensils are great. I don't normally wash & keep plastic, but I actually did keep the serving spoons & tongs included with the meal. They'll be great for my next family holiday buffet.
Service for this trip was very good. The online ordering service allowed me to schedule pickup for a later time that day which was more convenient for me. You can also order a day or two before if you like. I used the carside pickup, so it was just a matter of pulling into the marked space & clicking "I'm here" on the website. I didn't use the app.
I will mention that about a year ago I had made a single dinner order (during lockdown) and the service was terrible. I waited for over 20 minutes to get my order delivered to the car, it was cold & unappealing and I swore I wouldn't go back. The excuse I got from the waitstaff was that she was in the back & no one told her I was there. It was a very bad experience so I was worried about this meal but had no similar issues this time.
Based on my visit in January 2023, I would highly recommend using the online ordering. The family style dinner packages are a good value and the food...
