This was my first time visiting. I’m not going to say it will be my last because everything deserves a second chance. I will also preface by saying it was Memorial Day weekend and probably one of the busiest weekends of the year in Rockport. I will say that my first visit left much to be desired. The bakery was very busy when we visited, but I took this as a good sign. It was cluttered with all kinds of knick knacks, some would call this “cozy”. It was confusing. There are, I think, two small tables in there but they were covered with decor. They didn’t scream “sit at me!” “Enjoy your pastries HERE!” It was more like, “you could possibly sit here” “if you move all the junk off the table you could sit here” “I might be decorative, or I might not be, can you guess?” type situation. We weren’t greeted. I only saw two men in the bakery (this place also has a drive thru) with the amount of business they have they should definitely have 5-6 staff. Not enough staff to serve walk-in orders and drive thru at the same time (again Memorial Day weekend might have played a part here). Might have had a different experience if it was one vs the other, not both. The pastries looked amazing, but nothing was labeled. They were so discombobulated that when you asked what type of pastry it was they were annoyed that they had to take time to answer you (again, short staffed can make people irritated). Signage/labeling of their pastries would be great, and could help them out. The overall display cabinets with lunch trays were a turn off. Displaying your masterpieces (pastries) that you have slaved over for hours is half the fun! Display, look of the pastries, cleanliness, interaction with your customers, etc. these are all super important. I had read reviews of this place before we stopped in. I was hoping to meet the sweetest people in Rockport, that people had mentioned. Instead, we weren’t greeted with rudeness and irritability. The eclair was ginormous and delicious. The cheese danish/pastry was wonderful according to my mother-in-law. My father-in-law got a ham and cheese croissant that was cold and not good at all. The apple fritter is ginormous, very fluffy but didn’t have a lot of apples in it. They also had brownies that were bought from Sam’s Club and placed in the display cabinet. Please don’t sell cold food that is intended to be warmed (at least give the option to have it warmed). The other pastries...
Read moreThis was a first for me. My wife gave me $41 to go down to the Dollar general and put on my cash app. I was unable to do so due to technical problems. So on my way home I thought, I'll swing in and grab a couple of donuts, one for me and one for my wife. I pulled into the drive-thru. Handed the man one of the two twenty-dollar bills that I had been given from My wife 15 mins earlier and said, I'll have a couple donuts please. He took my $20 bill and came back with like seven donuts four glazed donuts two twisted donuts and one sprinkled donut. That was it no change. So I pull in to get two donuts and I end up paying $20 for 7 or 8 donuts that I didn't even want. The craziest part is when I brought it to his attention. He told me I gave him a $5 bill and then said that there are no $20 bills in the cash register. Therefore I couldn't have given him a 20. Let me say this. I know unequivocally for a fact without a doubt in my mind whatsoever that I gave that man a $20 bill. The reason I know that is because I was holding on to that money in my hand at the Dollar general trying to put it on my account for the better part of half an hour. Not to mention my wife also confirmed that she gave me two $20. I didn't need her to because I knew. But it was reassuring because I feel like I was going crazy. I truly truly truly hope that that was an honest mistake by that man and he wasn't lying to me. To say there was no $20 bill in the cash register when I know I gave him a $20. That is the part that has me wondering. I am conflicted if I'll...
Read moreMy wife, my boys and myself were visiting Rockport for our 3rd time, driving in from Houston. We’ve always passed by the bakery and we finally decided to check it out. I pulled into the drive-thru area and my wife and my oldest son got out to run inside and see what they had. I was checking my mirror to ensure that if another car came, I would move out of the way. Well, apparently a lady in the bakery, behind the counter, without even greeting my wife/son, just starts telling her that I need to move my car, etc… My wife never got a chance to even check out the goodies, because the woman insisted that I move my car. I wasn’t there even a minute. She told me wife, in a rude way “I’ve been pointing at him to move his car!”. I wasn’t looking into the bakery. I didn’t notice her. I was looking for traffic light/traffic, and a good time to pull out, so I could part in the correct place. Out came my wife and son. She was like “We’re not eating here. Let’s go!”. Sad, but true… No...
