I used to love Philly Cheesesteaks from the Philly Connection but the one near me closed down several years ago. A few days ago, I was at the Cumberland Festival shopping center and saw one there. As it was already past my usual lunchtime and I was hungry, I went in to get a Philly Cheesecake Sandwich and was so looking forward to enjoying one again. About half way into the store, I saw that the man at the counter was not wearing a mask. Then another employee came to the counter and she was not wearing a mask. I literally stopped for a few seconds considering turning around and leaving. It was very strange that I actually felt worried about the place but I did. I have not been in any restaurants or stores since the pandemic where the employees were not wearing a mask. But, as I said above, I was quite hungry and really wanted that sandwich, so I went ahead up and ordered it, but staying further away from the cashier. While waiting, because of back issues, I needed to sit down and the only option was bar stools at a counter. The stools were so high that one would need a step ladder to get on one. I could only manage to get a bit of my bottom on it to try to take the stress off my back. I guess these stools are to discourage customers from staying. As I was leaving, I turned around and asked the one who made the sandwich, why no one was wearing a mask. Her reply was āWeāre not required toā. So many thoughts ran through my head, but I just turned around and left. I couldnāt believe that this would be the attitude of a business that directly serves the public. As they are reckless and irresponsible in not wearing a mask, they are probably that way about keeping things sanitized and clean. I know the bar stool was not clean as I had something smeared on the back of my pants and I had not been anywhere else where I sat down.
We are not out of this pandemic yet and I feel the employees here could contribute to continuing to spread this virus. Of course, I donāt know but I would imagine they do not test temps either.
Anyway, I should have saved my money as the sandwich was not very good ā not at all what I expected and remembered from the last time I had one. I donāt know what type bread the bun was but it was not at all palatable. The meat (of which there was very little) could not be a very good cut of beef. It had no flavor and apparently none was added. The onions were somewhat over browned and there was not enough cheese to even know there was any in it. What a disappointment!
A āIām Sorryā to āHarrys Pizza and Subsā on Powers Ferry Rd ā I temporarily lost my mind, going somewhere else. After the āPhilly Connectionā near me shut down, I tried many other places and finally found Harrys. If you want the best Cheesesteak sandwich, this is where to go. You will not believe how much meat is on this sandwich, along with diced tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and lettuce that is cooked with the other ingredients. The bun is also good. Their 12 inch will do anyone for 2 meals and the cost is about $1.00 less than the Philly Connectionās 10 inch. I donāt really see the need for the lettuce so I always ask them to leave that out but add more tomatoes. (My personal taste ā others may like it a bit different) And now, talking about this, Iām hungry so Iām...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is only my second review but I have a few things that need to be said. First of all the girl working the register. She was EXTREMELY unprofessional in my opinion. Her attitude was like she didnt want to be there and was just sour and dour. I asked for the chicken philly and after I said I wanted she typed it in and then stared blankly at me. First time I had been here and I wasnt sure if the sandwich came with anything so after she stared blankly at me I just told her "Mushrooms and onions only" Again...typed it in then stared blankly at me. Again...first time being here so I wasnt sure if the sandwich came with a drink and fries and her attitude made me uncomfortable so I didnt bother to ask. She didnt offer a combo either so my loss. After my husband told her his order she took his card, swiped it then walked away. So that was strike one for me. THEN the wait was long, which there was a line ahead of us so I wasnt to upset about that. But after going home with our sandwiches his was just a toasted piece of bread and warmed up meat with nothing on it after he requested a mushroom philly. Mine tasted like fish(?). Not sure how but it had a very gamey taste to it. Ive been excited to try this place and sadly we wont be coming back. If for nothing else then the horrible customer service we got at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow, steaks are amazingly delicious. I love the soft bread. Just wish they were a little bigger, next time I'll get the 10inch or maybe even two of the medium ones. Cashier guy was also extremely pleasant and nice, said hi immediately and said bye when I left. I know this is simple, but to me it goes a long way. I'd rather go to a place with happy employees because their happiness rubs off on me :) didnt catch his name, but 20 something guy with longer hair if I remember. Give this guy a raise. The two female cooks also cook extremely fast and dont ding around. I have always loved Penn Stations phillys (only one I know of in Georgia is off north druid next to newks and tropical smoothie, but it's big in the midwest where I grew up) but the cooks always ding around and it takes literally 20 minutes sometimes to get my sandwich, time is money people!! This place I was in and out in probably 4 minutes. Just moved nearby so trust me I will be back. Glad...
