Friendly's — Restaurant in Gettysburg

At 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27th, my party of 4 arrived at the restaurant, and the parking lot was empty, and we could see there was only a couple inside as we walked up to the door. As we entered, there was an older lady standing at the hostess stand. I think she had been standing there for a bit, based on the expression on the face of the waitress, and only got noticed because my party was within sight of the kitchen. A manager(?) sat us, and said the waitress would be right with us, but it took her several minutes. The waitress sat the older lady at a dirty table, so she ended up moving herself to a different table. After we were seated, it took a long time for the waitress to come to our table. Mind you that they restaurant is basically empty. Since we rarely eat at Friendly's, and the menu is different each time, we were ready to order when she arrived. My two daughters and wife each ordered the '3 for Me' deal, and my daughters each asked for a milkshake instead of the fountain drink that came with the meal. One of them ordered onion rings as the side. My wife ordered soup as her side. It was taking a long time for our food to come, so I went to the cash register to get our waitress' attention, and asked that she bring my wife's soup. Right after I sat down, our food came out. Luckily, our food was good. We got checked on once even though was a total of 5 people in the entire restaurant, since the couple left shortly after we got there. We got our check, and discovered we got charged full price for the milkshakes instead of an upgrade price and for the side of onion rings. I told the waitress, and asked for a manager. Some young girl came out, and said, "What's up?" despite I could hear the waitress explain what I said to her. She said, "What do you want me to do?" My wife said we shouldn't be charged for the onion rings, and she just started walking away, and I said some money should be taken off for the milkshakes. I went to the bathroom to find out all they took off were the onion rings. Horrible customer service by the waitress and manager on duty. Too bad the customer service wasn't as good...

I have given this Friendly's 2 chances over the past 4 months...Service is awful. Every time I go here with my family, there is always several (like 12 or more) completely empty tables and we have still have to wait 10-20 minutes & 4-5 waitress or other staff just standing around--do they need trained or do they not know what to do?--but, this isn't the worst part...after seated it always takes 50 minutes or more to get our food--and mostly we order soup and chicken fingers and french fries. The last time we were there I saw our food sitting on the warmer in the kitchen for over 30 minutes but, our waitress was no-where to be found. When we finally got our order the lettuce was warm on our salads. It is sad because I could see at least 3 other waitresses just standing around where the food is, in the kitchen (are they not permitted to deliver other waitresses food?). I asked for refills for our drinks (3 waters and 2 sodas) that we never received so I asked for them a 3rd time and waitress seemed angry that I reminded her. There were only 9 tables with customers at them at this time and what looked like 5-6 waitresses. We asked for ice cream to go and she mixed up 2 of the 3 flavors we ordered but, I was already past frustrated, so I asked for our bill so we could pay. Whenever I got to the register, 3 different people behind the counter noticed me & made eye contact, not one said anything or moved a muscle to come to take payment. I finally just said "here is our bill and money" & placed it beside the register and left. This is very sad, as my children like Friendly's but, we live about 30 miles away & this is nearest Friendly's to us. This used to be a wonderful place to take children, in a town as great as Gettysburg but, now service is so lacking and the staff seemed bothered that customers are around. I do not think there was a manager around because the family in table near ours said they waited 40 minutes to get just ice cream and they asked for a manager and they were told that he would be in shortly. Please change something and make this a fun, family...

My gf and I had the worst experience EVER! Lets start qith the fact that no-one was waiting to seat us so we had to wait (they were not busy) Once we were seated it took the waitress 10min just to come ask us what we wanted to drink. We both ordered coffee, the coffee comes def was not fresh we were thirsty so we sipped on it waiting another 10min for her to come back and ask what we would like to order. We ordered, she brought back silverware that still had food on it! We pressed the call waitress button and another 10min goes by she even walked past us not once but twice as the kiosk was blinking. We told her about the silverware and asked for more coffee. We get our coffee refill and after we put our sugar and cream in and take a sip it's ice cold! We then asked the waitress if we could get fresh coffe due to the coffeeshe just poured being ice cold and here's the kicker she said i didn't know it was cold I didn't stick my finger in it my gf said I would hope not. As the waitress is walking away with our cups she says she will stick them in the microwave we both told her no we wanted fresh. My gf and I then decided after sitting there for over an hour not yet being served our food and with such poor service thus far we were going to talk to the manager and leave. We stood at the counter for 5 min waiting to speak to the manager and several employees had seen us waiying no-one said anything to us so we left.
