First WOW!! This was me and the wife's first time at The Block. I had The Big Pig and the wife had the Jalapeno Poper sandwich. In my opinion The big pig sandwich Was to die for. The pulled pork was off the chart. In the Barbecue sauce was really awesome. I did half the sandwich and I wish I did the hole one lol. Two thumbs up. The wife Jalapeno Poper sandwich was really great. It was hot and stringy. She said the only downside for her was it had a little to much of the cream cheese. But if you like cream cheese that is a really big plus. They have a AWESOME selection of beers and miicro brews. The service was awesome. They were having a function with special Olympics at the time. So we thought it was gonna take a long time for food. I think we sat for maybe 10 minutes and are food was at are table. For both of us with a sandwiches a pop and a beer it was $22.50. It is a little high for Great Falls. BUT in my opinion it was well worth it. The only downside is the acoustics is kinda bad. It is a little loud when a lot of people is there. And there was a lot of people there. So if you want a Great sandwich in Great Falls. This is the place. I recommend The Big Pig and the Jalapeno Poper. Oh yes the Jalapeno slices WILL...
Read moreWent today, wasn't too busy. Looked over the menu, ordered, and paid for the food we would be eating..... As we were walking away from the order counter to find a place to sit, the woman who took our order turned around to the cooks and immediatly threw a fit that we did not tip her. It made us feel so uncomfortable that we felt like the cook would not be making the food the same as if we had given a tip. Im not sure how it even makes sense to give a tip before you have even had your meal. A meal that you walk up to a counter to order..... don't you usually tip AFTER you have your meal? Then the tip amount left is based on the quality of service you received during the time you were there? Call me crazy but to me, it makes absolutely no sense to give a tip before you even sit down. Or is this the type of place that you tip immediately to ensure that you do get good service? We will not be going back after that. The sad part is, I'm a very conscious tipper. I firmly believe in recognizing excellent service, and rewarding for it. I will never bribe for it.
One more thing, cut back on the salt guys. You don't have to serve an entire Salt Lick in order to sell more drinks
I'm not a negative person, the experience was just that bad...
Read moreWe've been going to The Block since it opened and have enjoyed the great sandwiches, service and vibe. Something's changed or a pretty bad "off-night".
3 of us went last night and were really disappointed in the food, service, dirty tables, etc.
All ordered the tri-tip sandwiches and all lacking toppings (just meat and cheese) or flavor and the meat, cheese and bread were soaked in grease/oil. Tator Tots too. Soggy. Its pretty bad when a puddle of oil is left on the plate when picking up your sandwich. Couldn't finish mine nor did the group of us feel great afterwards.
The guy who served us and eventually cleared off dirty tables so we could sit, couldn't remember what we ordered for drinks, food, pretty much anything since we had to check on where the drinks and food were as it had been awhile.
The staff outnumbered the patrons so it wasn't a overwhelmed busy situation.
It will be a long time before we all head back and we heard a group nearby also comment on cold, not good food and they took off quickly.
Oh yeah and we spent 81.00 for 3 sandwiches, 2 beers and good tip upfront for probably the worst sandwich I've had in years.
Hope this is a one off...
