Phenomenal bagels and a beautiful family owned/operated businessā¦but thereās more!!!
While I can count the # of reviews Iāve publicly shared on the internet on one hand, I certainly maintain (and share) strong opinions privately on the products and services I value. Britt & Co. is a new local business in the community that I value and highly recommend.
Yet, I share this review for a different and more important reason (people that know me, already know of the excellent bagels crafted @Britt & Co., because I donāt shut up about itā¦). (Disclaimer: I have no equity in, nor relationship to the business or its ownersā¦(although I would be interested in equity;).
The ābut thereās more!!!āā¦is the Young Man with glasses who usually works there deserves a compliment and earned my respect (based on my observations he must be the son of āBrittā, but please correct me if Iām wrong (or if anyone is still reading, because I have a point;).
While this individual canāt be more than 15 or so years old, I say Young Man, and not boy, intentionally. On a recent Saturday morning, I observed how mature and kind this Young Man conducted himself despite a āsaltyā and unsavory āadult manāsā behavior (the āadultā must have been close to 3 times his age).
In an attempt to be brief, Iāll spare the details, but in short, the āadult manā behaved like a petulant child and this Young Man handled the situation with humility and grace.
Although it is easy to get caught up in the fast-paced culture of instant gratification and convenience, society and us as individuals would all greatly benefit by acting in a more humble and graceful manner on a daily basis.
So THANK YOU Young Man (and to whomever your parents are for how they are raising you!) for being an example (and reminder) of what humility and Grace looks like!
Keep it up (despite the unsavory individuals!) and I look forward to your presence when the retail shop opens againā¦until then Iām going to figure out the āorder in advanceā so I donāt miss out on the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was looking for a great bagel spot close by, and Iām glad I stumbled across this hidden gem. It was a little hard to find because of construction on the other side of the street, where Google Maps left me. For reference, they're across from where Planet Pizza used to be if you know this area of Greenwich, CT. I went inside, and although no one was there since they were getting ready to close soon, it made sense. The space inside was ample and had an old-time vibe. It felt like you had been transported back in time, which added to the charm. It's a family-owned bagel place, literally with the mom and son working.
I had an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and a toasted jalapeƱo cheddar bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese. The food was prepared quickly, and the cooked parts of my order were done promptly as well. The jalapeƱo cheddar BEC was huge, enough to feed two people honestly. Both bagels were amazing, especially the everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, which completely exceeded my expectations as one of the other reviewers mentioned. Being from New York, I know a thing or two about a good bagel, and these were really good. Great ingredients, freshly made, and the scallion cream cheese was very flavorful. The jalapeƱo cheddar bagel had a great sharp cheese flavor, with a crunch and kick added from the jalapeƱos.
I highly, highly recommend Britt & Co. Bagels and will be back most definitely.
A few important notes: parking can be a bit of an issue around rush hour, lunch, and some weekends. There is metered parking too. Also, Britt & Co. Bagels doesnāt have posted hours; they work based on how busy it is. When I called, that was what was explained to me. So, try to call ahead...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEasily the most creative bagel shop Iāve ever experienced. From the rotating menu of classic and unique stuffed bagels plus sandwiches, itās really hard to go wrong. Oh and being open for 24 hours for pickup orders before major holidays (so far) is unheard of.
Everyone bashing this place seems to not understand that despite being posted in many places, the store is effectively a pop up shop with varying hours and inventory levels due to the large online order business they operate. Due to a recent celebrity endorsement, popularity has exploded exponentially faster than expected I imagine. Instead of complaining about the wait time of this true family run business (Brittās son runs the counter when available), maybe look around the shop and appreciate the attention to detail given to the decor. Youād notice the tables look like poppyseed bagels. Youād see historic photos and articles, a retro fridge, rotary phone, and bagel table games. Or go totally old fashion and have a conversation with others in line.
Bottom line is the product here is as fantastic as it is unique. Letās focus on that instead of the front of house of a place thatās barely been open a few months, Iām confident theyāll work out any issues. Until then, youāll know to follow their social media for store hours and inventory and that calling in an order in advance will reduce...
