Stepping into Belly Fish is like discovering a secret the ocean whispered just for you. From the first bite, you realize this isnāt ājust another sushi placeāāitās a master class in seafood artistry.
The freshness is uncanny: the fish melts with a purity and texture Iāve only ever encountered in Tokyo sushi bars. The salmon belly is nothing short of divine, torched ever so lightly so the fat renders while the flame teases out a whisper of char. Even in takeout, the nigiri maintain perfect structureāno mushy rice, no limp bites.
What sets Belly Fish apart is their obsessive attention to detail. Every roll is an engineered delightābalancing groups of flavor, texture, and aroma. Crispy rice with spicy tuna? It crackles. Truffle-oil kissed torched hamachi belly? Soft, smoky, lush. Their tostadas bring crunch, color, and brightness in one biteāsomething you donāt often get in sushi joints.
Service and atmosphere donāt take a back seat either. Whether you pop in for dine-in or bring the feast home, the experience is curated. Staff are warm and present; ambiance is clean, modern, just enough warmth. Even their packaging for delivery feels intentional, as though unwrapping a work of art instead of reheated leftovers.
Here in South Florida, spoiled by sun and seafood, Belly Fish doesnāt just competeāit sets the bar. Itās sushi elevated in every sense: the kind you remember. If you care about quality, flavor, artistry, and an experience that feels like more than a meal, this place...

My goal here is for restaurant management to read this review, take feedback and improve.
Iāve been eating sushi my entire life and i have my own score card. I know whatās bad, ok, and what hits it out of the park.
I decide Belly Fish a try because iāve tried many Sushi restaurants all around Miami and have been disappointed too many times. So i found this place, and it reminded me of a top spot in NY so i decided to give it a try and I was actually really excited.
I ordered the three role combo and the result was just disappointing. The quality of the rice and fish were both poor. And the taste was off. The spicy salmon was ok but the spicy tuna and yellowtail were not appetizing.
For restaurant staff reading this my hope is that you try the sushi DAILY. One thing is the rice quality, which can easily be improved but another thing is the quality of the fish. Donāt serve it if itās not going to be the fresh and consistent. I know a few places that have perfected this and their experience is unmatched.
The good news is that you too can improve and I will be the first person to give it another try when...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOh my goodness...I'm stunned at the negative reviews. I love sushi but I'm pretty selective about what exactly I eat because I'm a stickler for fresh fish (I do not like fishy fish). I've been meaning to check out Belly Fish since moving to Miami a few months ago and finally had the chance to do so this past weekend. It was AMAZING. Holy moly. The quality of fish here for the price is truly excellent (and the salmon is sourced from the Faroe Islands!).
I tried a few different things and loved everything: Tuna tostada, hamachi tostada, feta/avocado tostada wow (all had fabulous flavors!) Tuna roll -- usually I skip this, I find it too fishy BUT the quality of fish here was excellent Wagyu roll -- super different + delicious Salmon roll -- excellent Scallop hand roll -- I was reluctant to try this but it was delicious; scallop was extremely fresh! Torched salmon belly + truffle oil -- omg this was my absolute FAVORITE. I lost count at how many I ate and have no regrets
Bottom line -- this place is the real deal. It's a takeout spot with a few tables in an outdoor patio. The staff is really wonderful. Presentation is excellent (I love the boxes and how well everything is packaged). Now I just need to figure out how I can eat this more often ;)
P.S. The homemade coconut...
