Gave them a chance over a year ago and the same exact thing happened and why I might give it another year to go again, we were so disappointed. Got the burrito, taco combo and wife the enchiladas. The corona was not very cold so it was stale if you get my drift. I see the place has gotten worse, the environment was warm inside and on a 90+ degree day air would have been nice. Our servers were very nice but clueless and we had 4 serving us, 3 females and a male, that was a nightmare. We had our first drinks and the male server asked us if we wanted another when we just got our meals, didnt get the drink until we were done eating which we were too full to drink. There weren't many people in there when we got there but 4 servers on one table makes it hard to remember things. The food I could have sworn tasted sort of like an old refrigerator smells. It gets better.......I waited for the bill for a good 10 minutes while the servers were all over. I gave my credit card and asked if I had to sign that copy and they said no, I went back and said are you sure and 5 minutes later they were looking for my credit card which I had.....not listening and I am sure the servers were stressed. I hope they got their tip. Anyhow I spent the whole night sick with indigestion till morning and still awake. The staff needs to loosen up, be personable and for God sakes clean the place up, it is filthy and sticky, I will help. This restaurant has a lot of potential but lack of teamwork makes the customers suffer. We will give them another year to go again and if they had surveys, which I suggest can fix the problem before it gets to this point. I am sorry for the bad review but I have to be honest with others because I rely on these places when we go out. Wish you luck...
Read moreRancho Viejo is BEYOND Amazing! Having grown up on authentic Mexican food, this place seriously serves up the most flavorful, authentic and generous Mexican food I have found in North Idaho, hands down! They have a Chili Relleno to die for! Many places take a weak approach to chili relleno; most don't know how to either make it correctly, or they skimp on the ingredients, but NOT here at Rancho. They know their craft and they do it well. We eat here religiously if we want Great Mexican food. I have tried ALL of the other local spots in North Idaho and a rare couple are "eh ok" if youre willing to settle. When a place fails the chips and salsa test (not having fresh, hot chips with awesome salsa that isn't watered down) then I dont give them more than one chance at redemption if the first time isn't good. I have always had amazing burritos, bigger than your head, at Rancho, along with superb enchiladas(the suace is really good and they dont skimp on the cheese or fillings). The staff is awesome as well, and the owner is such a pleasant and friendly gentleman. They are priced amazing as well. I keep seeing these Mexican restaurants where they want 14.99 for a burrito and it ends up being some tiny, barely filled, pathetic attempt at a burrito, or the platter has some miniature scoop of beans and rice, again though, Not at Rancho!!!! They legitimately just do it ALL perfectly, from their giant margaritas, to their combination platters, we will always stay loyal as long as they continue to stay loyal to what has made them so Excellent in this community. 10/10!!!!!!
Thank you Rancho Viejo for showing others how yo do it right...
Read moreWorst Mexican food I've ever had. The service was ok and I left a decent tip. First off, our table was dirty. I don't mean crumbs. I mean smeared beans and greasy fingerprints. The sauce on the enchiladas was sweet. Seriously sweet. There was minimal cheese on it and the chicken was dry and unseasoned and a lot of thick dry chunks instead of shredded. The rice was also dry had no flavor but the beans were good. My grandson (12yr) ordered the chicken enchilada meal from the children's menu. It hasn't to do with price, it has to do with his appetite. The waitress asks him directly if he'd like the adult sized portion for $2 more as if it's up to HIM and her to decide. He didn't finish his meal. My son enjoyed his asada Rancho Viejo burrito a lot, otherwise this review would be 1 star. The place looks dirty but I think it's clean, I think it's just the clutter and outdated things like a Cinco de mayo poster up above the bar (we're in October) and the Christmas wreath on the wall but I'm not rating on decor. Just food and service alone. If it weren't for the gentleman who brought put our food, my grandson might never have rcvd his horchata. I know there's tons of great reviews on here and that's why I went. I'm Mexican so maybe my standards are too high. It's not fair to the non Mexicans/Hispanics that they are being served sub-par food though! They don't know the difference. I'm sad that you're serving them this and you're representing my people. Please do better. Or maybe you do and it was just a bad night and the right cook...
