I’ve had a couple bad experiences with the owner, but this one takes the cake! Two times I told the barista(once at each location) that I wanted an unsweetened Big Train chai and was given a regular sweetened chai. The owner happened to be at both locations when it occurred. She didn’t even ask me and just assumed that I never told the baristas that I wanted the unsweetened version, when I had and told me to make sure I do. Both times she spoke to me very rudely. She apologized to me both times after I told her that I did say that I wanted the unsweetened. One time it was made so watery that I came right back and asked for it to be re-made and they did, but the barista wanted to charge me for the second and I said that I shouldn’t be charged for the remake due to it being made watery. But the owner lied and said that I refused to pay when I ordered the wrong version of the drink when that’s not what happened. Today I did forget to ask for the unsweetened version and so I said I will pay for both drinks and I was totally fine with that because that was my error. The owner comes up to the window and says that I’ve done it so many times(not stated unsweetened) when that’s completely false and that if it happens again that I’m not allowed to get coffee there anymore. When I attempted to respond more than once she kept cutting me off and after saying not to come back if it happens again walked away and didn’t even allow me to respond. They are my go to place for coffee and have for a very long time and then to be treated that way. That’s not how you treat customers period and especially long term loyal customers. She doesn’t have to worry about telling me not to come back, I won’t be coming back on my own after being treated that way. I won’t give my business to a place where I’m treated that horribly by the owner. She really needs some training in customer service and communication. She apparently doesn’t value her customers and is very disrespectful and rude. We are all human and make mistakes and shouldn’t be treated that way and told not to come back due to that. I recommend going anywhere else besides Human Bean if you wanted to be treated...
Read moreI’ve been to The Human Bean over a dozen times. Before they stopped serving Redbull, that was something they did well. They also do sugary drinks like frozen hot chocolate and smoothies well. What they don’t do well with (in my opinion) is coffee and boba. I just ordered their “boba” chai and was, for lack of a better word, appalled, by what I received. First of all, I ordered a 24oz and was given what looks like 10-15 total pieces of “boba.” The texture of the “boba” was nowhere close to what actual boba (tapioca pearls) is like. To be fair, they didn’t technically say they were tapioca pearls, so it was my fault for assuming their “boba” would be actual boba. I could only describe the texture as jelly-like but somehow with crunch to it? I nearly spit it out. I also paid $16 for that drink and a burrito. I’m not sure how much the items were individually but I was shocked at the price of them combined. The burritos also have way less meat in them than they used to, mostly egg and potato with a hint of meat. Their “bright” energy drink that replaced redbull is also not good at all. Will not...
Read moreThis morning my boyfriend and I got coffee here and I had a granita, he had a pumpkin snowy. His snowy was okay but tasted a bit off. My granita was immediately not right. It tasted sour and almost rotted. I got to work and got about a quarter of the way into it and realized the milk was curdled. Actual bubbles, I wish I was exaggerating. My boyfriend took his drink back and told them mine was spoiled as well and the owner basically told him it sounded “suspicious” so he drove all the way back to my place of work to obtain the curdled milk to prove that it was spoiled. The baristas were horrified of it, according to my boyfriend, and they made us rebels for free but only after the owner was disrespectful to my boyfriend. The other baristas were wonderful, the owner is not so much. I wouldn’t have left a bad review if the owner was not so rude to my boyfriend but I’m petty. Once again, thank you baristas for being so nice...
