Ok. Truth. I grew up five walking minutes from the original Handel's in Youngstown, Ohio. My mom visited when they opened in 1945 and throughout the 70s and 80's it was my fovorite local ice cream shop. Only one location as an option. Then, late 80s or early 90s, it was sold and the new owner began the slow expansion of locations, trying to keep the feel of the OG. Selfishly this is a slice of my childhood home and brings back so many memories. That said, the ice cream is better than I remember! We always take a quart of chocolate pecan home because that is the original and best flavor. Then we have variety of scoops on site to share with the family...this time we had black 🍒, 🍌 foster, ☕ ice cream with chocolate chips, and simple but perfect 🍓. You know, if you know. Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream is a must-visit for ice cream lovers. I recently tried their 4-scoop sampler, choosing carrot cake, butter pecan, vanilla with toffee, and cinnamon roll. Each flavor was rich, creamy, and packed with deliciousness.

Having enjoyed Handel’s before, I was thrilled to see them come to Nashville. The ample parking and spacious interior add to the positive experience, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy your treat.

We love our local Handel’s Ice Cream! Their ice cream is so so so good and creamy with so many different flavors to choose from. We were there the night of the severe tornado weather on April 5th. The staff there that day were calm, professional and so kind!! My husband and I ordered but only he was able to get his ice cream before we had to move to the back and take cover. They not only refunded my ice cream, but offered to give me a free ice cream next time I came in. Tonight was the night and they were so kind to honor that!
