I don’t typically leave reviews but this is (was) my favorite Cafe in the area. Recently, that unfortunately changed. There seems to be a new face at the checkout, a lady who has been very mean and does not bag my pastries and desserts the proper way. I’ve had 4 separate experiences with her so far. The first time she bagged my 4 hot dogs with my 4 donuts in the same box without covering my 4 hot dogs. The second time she did the same thing but I kindly asked her to place them in separate boxes for obvious reasons because that’s also what I was used to with the older cashier. She tells me that it will cost me extra to place it in a different box and I tell her that’s okay. Then she proceeds to take out a bag and places my donuts inside a bag instead of a closed box. I don’t think much of it and leave a tip anyway because I appreciate the staff here. The third time I come, I ask her to heat up a pastry for me and she continues to do so but after the pastry is out of the microwave she THROWS it inside of a PLASTIC bag and throws it on the counter aggressively. This time I leave without a tip for the first time because her manners with me just kept getting worse for no reason. The next day, I come in for my usual cup of coffee because this Cafe is makes the perfect coffee in my opinion and the staff are always kind and welcoming. Unfortunately I walk up to the cashier and the lady seems very upset at me but I don’t think much of it and continue placing my regular order. I notice that my receipt says my coffee costs 5 dollars instead of 4 which is unusual so I check the receipt and see that she’s added oat milk to my order instead of low fat milk. I walk back to the cashier to double check and she tells me “just go it will be normal and not have oat milk” I try to add on that she’s added an extra charge due with the oat milk mistake but she continues telling me to leave until another staff member comes up and lets me explain the issue to them. The lady then gives me back 50 cents but I just leave them in the tipping bin on the counter and leave. The issue here was not the “stealing charge” or the “oat milk” it’s the fact that this specific cashier makes every visit worse than the one before. She gives me terrible looks and bangs things on the counter when I ask for anything. Unfortunately due to this experience I won’t be coming here anymore. I enjoyed the other staff and the environment...
Read moreI am beyond frustrated with my experience at Tous Les Jours in Hillsboro today. This isn't just about a cancelled order—it's about a complete disregard for customers' time and basic service standards. Here's what happened: I placed an order at 12:29 PM with a pickup time between 2:10-2:20 PM. Perfect, right? I planned my entire afternoon around this. Then at 2:01 PM—literally NINE MINUTES before the pickup window—I get a text saying my order has been cancelled because "the store is unable to fulfill the order." No phone call, no attempt to offer alternatives, just a cold cancellation message. When I arrived at 2:15 PM (already on my way when the cancellation came through), the staff simply confirmed they didn't have the cake I ordered. That's it. No apology beyond the generic text message, no attempt to make things right, and certainly no acknowledgment of the massive inconvenience they caused. Their "solution"? Casually offering me something from the display case like that somehow makes up for wasting my time and ruining my plans. What really gets me is the complete lack of effort to correct the situation. If you knew at 2:01 PM you couldn't fulfill my order placed TWO HOURS EARLIER, why wasn't I contacted sooner? Why accept orders you can't complete? And when a frustrated customer shows up because your timing was terrible, why not actually TRY to make it right? This business clearly doesn't value its customers' time. You charge premium prices but deliver bottom-tier service. Here's the thing: the cake itself isn't even the main issue anymore—it's the absolute absence of customer care. People don't come back for the product alone; they come back when they're treated with respect and when businesses actually care about making things right. I hope this review saves others from the same frustration and wasted time. Don't bother with this location if you actually need something reliable. There are plenty of bakeries that respect their customers—find one of...
Read moreOriginal post in July 2020: I was very impressed with my first purchase from Tous Les Jours today. This bakery is an interesting South Korean-French fusion. I hate American donuts because I can only taste the grease, but the raspberry donut I tried today at Tous was FANTASTIC! It was much lighter & not greasy tasting. It has raspberry filling, and raspberry powder and powdered sugar on top. I like that you can read the ingredients for each of the pastries in the case. I also picked up some of their raisin bread, and it's very "fluffy" in texture & doesn't need to be toasted or butter added to be delicious. I think they offer New Seasons nearby some serious pastry and fresh bread competition.
Addition Oct 2020 (dropping 2 stars): I've been increasingly disappointed with Tous Les Jours in terms of ingredient disclosure on their website and when/if various pastries listed on their website are available at their stores. You have to go in person to see the ingredients for the pastries, which could be a wasted trip if you find you can't have ingredients found prominently in their pastries. You can't find any ingredient information on their drinks - on the website or in their stores. I also can't find the ingredient list for their cakes in the store or on their website. So if you want one of their pricey cakes, it's anybody's guess as to what's in them. I asked in person if they had a brochure on their cakes and if they're customizable, and the staffer told me no, what they have in the case is what they have, and walked away. If I might be spending $30+ on a fancy cake, I'd like to be treated better than that & have the ability to customize the cake some - at least to say Happy Birthday or whatnot on it. They lost...
