I've been eating schmizza for over 1 million years. And I've eaten at probably every franchise they've ever had. Some are pretty hit or miss. This location is falling into the miss category.
FIRST the recipes have changed: Their alfredo sauce is different and much more garlicky. THEN they've stopped doing the toasted parm on the crust and bread sticks. That was pretty huge to me and the first thing I noticed was that they didn't have their signature crust with crumbly flavor bits on it (parm). NEXT was their supplier for the dippin sticks has changed and the bread is larger now. That was probably the one positive note I had for this experience, bread that felt like it was worth the overpriced 9$ tag. LASTLY in regards to the food, my half of the pizza had acrid burnt flavor, it appears only on my half of the pizza as my friends half didn't have it. O WAIT I almost forgot, the new cheesy bread we purchased was suppose to have pepperoni on it, and it didn't.
So every item was some how F'd up in some way.
No parm on the pizza OR dippin sticks, no pepperoni on the cheese bread (probably first and last time ordering that), burnt pizza taste, and my extra (2x) alfredo sauce that I used to love has been murdered.
That's was the food, the service however was pretty good. I would say 5 stars if my order was right. Dude was super friendly over the phone and I would have tipped closer to 15% if I could do math right. I wanted to give more than the 7$ tip on a 54$ order, but when I got home and realized all the mistakes I feel like the 7 was probably more accurate. Also I got carry out so let's start paying these people that work inside a reasonable wage and stop asking the customers to supplement their companies poor wages. (I say this as a former tip worker) The employee was awesome and I'm only deducting 1 star for not confirming the cheesy bread was made right before selling it. The containers we're sealed so took their word that it was right. But I did check my pizza before leaving (as everyone should) and it was accurate (minus their new terrible parmless crust).
The atmosphere loses points, when I walked in there was no clear place to "start" and I walked right past the greeter.
The CC reader charges as credit so you can't automate the tip to 15/20/30% easily, so my dumb ass has to do math, which results in bad tips for people that deserve more.
Also my pizza was placed on a bench where people put their dirty assholes. The staging area/sales counter for to go orders is a bench that people sit on. I'm not a fan of putting my food where people put their asses. I distinctly remember my dad yelling at me as a kid because I sat on the kitchen counter not thinking anything of it and he said "get your ass out of our food". Been pretty conscientious of it since.
We spent a total of 61$ including the tip - none of the food was right. Can not continue to give business to a company that I loved so much as a kid and into my adult life.
Fix the alfredo, the parmless issues, and burnt pizza taste (probably the tray it was sitting on had burnt stuff on it, I know how that works which means it wasn't very clean.) and order accuracy, and I could come back.
ALSO I almost forgot, NO 2 LITERS. Had to stop elsewhere for drinks. Lame. Bare minimum there should be root...
Read moreI just moved here and am new to the area. That said, I've been excited to try all the restaurants located here near Orenco Station. So far I've had great experiences at other restaurants in the area. This time, we wanted to go to Schmizza as it is a 2 minute walk from our apartment. Unfortunately, we had an ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE experience here. I don't know how this place has even a 3.5 star overall rating. We sat down outside and waiting for someone to come to our table. After 15 minutes of waiting, another woman at a table near us finally went inside to get a server (as they were waiting for a long time too to get a server). Only then did our waitress come to our table. Then, once we ordered, it took awhile for the food to come out. The food was okay, nothing special. The portions were tiny and terribly sized for the price of dishes. I am still hungry after a $33 bill !!!!! The worst part, we waited for almost 30 minutes just to get our bill and pay. Only because I grabbed another waiter to bring it to us. Our waitress didn't check up on us once, even after making eye contact with me many times. She even went and served new tables before coming to us!!!! And to top it all off, she told us that she hoped we had a great first experience dining there. She didn't apologize for the delay or making us wait whatsoever either. NO!!! That was the WORST dining experience I've had in a long, long time. So much so that it made me want to post my first yelp review. We will NEVER go back to this place. Save your money and dine somewhere else. WORST...
Read moreThe pizza was OK. It was not what I would call NY style which their website stated it was. The right amount of toppings for this thin-ish crust pie. Quality ingredients and I thought the red sauce was the best thing about it. Table service was poor to start and got slightly better to fair as the meal progressed. After I looked around a server that had been chatting at the kitchen service window area came and took my drink order and informed me my server was outside. Cigarette break by the smell of him when he did ask about ordering food. Which is fine, but get someone to cover your station; food service 101, day 1 chapter 1, page 1. He did put on my game upon request and recommended a second IPA which was good but not great. Value over all was fair to poor. I guess I'll get lunch out of the leftover $17, 12 inch, 2 topping pie. 2 stars is harsh but 3 stars is too many. If you like slight of hand tricks while trying to watch your game and enjoy a beer and food them maybe you'd rate it higher as there was this guy milling around with a deck of cards, a 50 cent piece sized coin and 3 short pieces of rope entertaining people that took an interest. Overall 2.5 stars. I may have given 3.5 if I'd been sitting at the bar were service looked attentive and the entertainer would have been less noticed. Too many flaws to over look try again soon unless there is an empty seat at the bar and the rotating tap handles have something...
