I’ve been a loyal customer of Piki Poke for quite some time, and it has always been one of my favorite go-to meals. The food quality and consistency have generally been excellent, which is why I’ve ordered from them so many times. Unfortunately, today’s experience left me very disappointed. 1) I specifically selected the option to “include utensil,” but no utensils were provided; 2) Two of the tuna pieces were extremely tough, filled with sinew, and practically impossible to chew. This is unusual compared to the quality I normally expect; 3) Most concerning was the presence of what looked like leek or scallion in my bowl, even though I did not order it. Since I am allergic to all members of the onion family, I couldn’t be certain which parts of the bowl might have come into contact with it, and I was forced to throw away nearly half of my meal out of caution. This was not only disappointing but also potentially unsafe. I share this feedback because I genuinely want to continue supporting Piki Poke as a long-time customer, but I also hope the restaurant can provide a proper resolution/compensation and take extra care in food preparation moving forward. A mistake like this makes it very difficult to maintain the same trust I’ve always had.

Dropped in on a late Sunday afternoon at around 2 when my BF and I were looking for a quick/healthy-ish lunch. I suggested poke bowls and I knew Piki Poké had just opened. Plus I saw they had a Yelp check-in offer for 15% off your first order. I decided to build my own bowl. I had the purple rice as a base, salmon and tuna for protein, corn, sweet onion, and cucumber for mix-ins (max 3), poke sauce and spicy mayo for flavor (max 3), and seaweed salad, spicy furikake, crabmeat salad for toppings (max 3). They also had Parmesan cheese available as a topping, which I thought had no business being there. Overall, it was a pretty good bowl. But if I could change three things, it would be 1. Add zucchini noodles as a base 2. Bigger scoops of protein (my BF did the three proteins and it looked like the same amount I'd get for two proteins at my usual poke spot in NYC. 3. Unlimited mix-ins, like most NYC poke joints have. Not a bad option for poke bowls but I think next time, I'll try some of their rice balls.

Cool interior design. They got cucumber water for free. You get to order from a place card that you hand in where you get to see all your options on paper before your order it which is really helpful vs other places where you hold up a line pointing to things and asking what they are. Only complaint is that I don’t eat poke bowls often so had no idea what half the options were so I’m missing out but it’s definitely not a big deal if you’re not shy to ask or take a shot in the dark and try things you don’t know. The pricing is VERY reasonable in comparison to other places. You’ll only pay a pretty penny if you overload your bowl with a ton of toppings. They were prepared very quickly and the presentation was impeccable. Most importantly the bowls were DELICIOUS. Everything is fresh and flavorful and many of the items are organic if you care about that. Best poke spot I’ve been to to date.

Normally I love to eat here and I would only have good things to say. Today I decided to get the unagi rice roll instead of the poke bowl I usually order. I immediately started having an allergic reaction and went over to ask if there’s any nuts in the unagi roll, to which I was told there was cashews. When I asked for a full refund for the order because I couldn’t eat any of the food, they only refunded the item that caused the reaction, made no apology, and I was told it was my fault for not reading the menu that was concealed behind the glass. I would understand this at any other restaurant, but Piki Poke only takes orders via an electronic kiosk that made no mention of nuts in their item. (Edit: I would never willingly consume anything that would cause my allergy, and I am frustrated that even in their reply to this review they insinuate again that it was my fault. I’m trying to warn them as both a consumer and someone who has worked in restaurants that their allergens are not listed clearly.) I spent the afternoon with hives on my hands and feet, throwing up, a massive stomach ache and a swollen eye. I hope in the future they have common allergens better displayed on their menu items. I am fortunate because I am not anaphylactic, but for someone else this could be life threatening. I would also like to note that during my reaction, none of the staff asked if I was okay or if I needed assistance. On a less important note, I also don’t understand why there’s nuts in an unagi roll in the first place? It doesn’t sound appetizing to me (I can safely eat other nuts and I still wouldn’t want this personally). I’m disappointed to have to write this because I hate giving negative reviews especially as someone who has worked in food service extensively, but I’m doing it mostly for other customers’ safety. I will be eating elsewhere in the future. If you’d like some tasty alternatives I really like Playa Bowl and Shaka Kitchen. Shaka Kitchen has smoothie and taco options in addition to their poke bowls as well as a great...

I am extremely disappointed with this establishment. This place was a go to of mine....ordering from this place 2-3 times a week. I recently had a terrible experience where there was something very hard in my food (I’m my opinion a small rock) While taking a bite, I bit down and ended up chipping my tooth. I called the manager, (Johnny) the next day after I had to make an emergency visit to the dentist as my molar was killing me to have my tooth fixed. Thinking this place would do the right thing and cover my $276.00 bill the manager did not take responsibility at all m, denying that anything was in my food and basically calling me a liar. No store credit or anything. The way in which the manager handled this issue was exceptionally unprofessional and even more disappointing that as one of their better customers they made zero effort to retain my business. Needless to say I will be taking legal action against this restaurant and never ordering from this place again as there are plenty of other Poke bowl places in hoboken. (Shaka Bowl, ...
