Great Food, but Pre-Payment and Tipping Policy Raises Questions
I recently had the pleasure of stopping by for lunch at your establishment this past Saturday. My bride and I both ordered the cheese steak hoagies, with one being the pizza version and the other the chicken variety. Alongside our sandwiches, we also ordered a serving of small fries, a small coke, and a water. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, which was delicious and satisfying.
However, there was one aspect of our dining experience that left me puzzled and slightly uncomfortable. As I placed my order at the counter even before we had a chance to sit down, I couldn't help but wonder why the customer is required to pay and provide a tip before the food is even delivered to the table.
In my experience, tipping is traditionally based on the quality of service received. It's a way for customers to show their appreciation for attentive and friendly staff who go the extra mile to ensure an enjoyable dining experience. When payment and tip amounts are requested upfront, it removes the opportunity for customers to evaluate the service and adjust the tip accordingly.
This pre-payment and tipping policy seems to bypass the fundamental principle behind tipping – rewarding good service. It leaves customers like me questioning whether we should provide a tip at all, as we haven't yet experienced the level of service that would warrant it.
I'd like to suggest considering an alternative approach. Allowing customers to pay after they have received their food and had a chance to evaluate the service could potentially lead to more genuine and fair tips. This approach would align more with the customary practice of tipping in the restaurant industry.
In conclusion, while the food at your establishment was indeed delicious and left us satisfied, the pre-payment and tipping policy raises questions about the fairness of tipping based on service received. I hope you'll consider reevaluating this policy to ensure that customers have the opportunity to reward exceptional service when they receive it. This adjustment could enhance the overall dining experience and satisfaction for both customers and your hardworking...
Read moreWe were in the area for Christmas and I was excited to give this place a try for hot dogs. I indulged and went with a small order of disco fries, The Gravy Train, and a chili dog with onions. Disco fries were very good... That brown diner gravy that I enjoy. Not too thick, but not watery. The chili dog was a simple, inexpensive hot dog with chili and diced rae onion. Hit the spot, not going to blow your mind, but a good quality. The Gravy Train gave me mixed feelings. Chicken... Really good! Bacon... Nice portion. Gravy... Same great gravy I enjoyed on the fries. The mozzarella and the garlic bread roll threw me from a better rating. Now they were VERY generous with the cheese, but for me it was overwhelming, with it all placed on the roll with the other ingredients on top. I think the garlic roll had potential, but also a bit much. With everything on this sandwich already contributing a lot of flavor and salt, the roll itself made it way too salty for me. Not bad by any means, but as constructed, I wouldn't order again. I would love a plain hoagie roll, those chicken tenders, French fries, and that brown gravy on a roll. Just my opinion, but that would have been awesome. If you're looking for a quick, classic type joint for a meal, definitely...
Read moreToday was me and my hubby’s 1st visit to Paulie’s and it definitely won’t be our last. The staff is amazing! They are friendly, kind, appreciative, and hard working! The dining area is nothing fancy, but at the same time it is perfect. There are some tables and booths and a game room adjacent to it. You order at the counter and let me just say the choices are plentiful. Of course we had to try some hot dogs: I had the Chicago and hubby had the Coney Island, both were cooked, executed and tasted wonderfully. We also shared some Disco fries, which were super yummy. The hubby also tried the Stinger, he said it had just the right amount of heat and bbq sauce and the chicken was cooked perfectly. We couldn’t leave without trying a little something sweet, so a deep fried pb-n-j it was. All I can say is make sure you save room and get one, you won’t be disappointed. Everything about this place was great and I’m sad that it has taken us soo long to get there, but excited we have a new place to go when we are in the area again. Thanks for everything and keep up the...
