The wait staff attempted Credit Card fraud by overcharging my credit card. I visited the Crackin Kitchen restaurant on the 3rd floor of the International Market Place in Waikiki on Wednesday September 17 between 7-9 pm.
I was traveling solo, so I ordered a glass of red wine and the crab fried rice which came to about $40 and I added an $8 tip despite being ignored the entire visit.
I planned on adding mussels to my order but the waiter never returned to my table to check on me or to ask if I was OK. I never received a glass of water or anything. He only returned to my table to drop off the rice, at which time I informed him that I wanted to order something else but since he never came back to check on me, I asked for a carryout box so I could leave the restaurant.
I packed up my food and proceeded to the counter to pay for my wine and crab rice which came to about $40. Again, I added a $8 tip but my Chase credit card was charged $72.70.
I knew something wasn’t right in the first place (red flag) when I first walked in and the waitress looked at me and simply said “Menu?,” then she quickly handed me a menu and walked away. She never asked me how many people were in my party or if I wanted to be seated, she just walked away from me and started whispering to the other waiter.
I was seated and waited on by a tall gentleman who also was very dismissive. As I reviewed the menu I turned it over to read the back and he said “ oh don’t worry about that ..it’s in Japanese,” at which time I kindly informed him that I was visiting from Japan and have lived in the country for 8 years.
The waitstaff made certain assumptions about me being a solo African American traveler and then proceeded to overcharge my credit card for 1 glass of wine and crab rice. Do not patronize this restaurant. The wait staff attempted Credit Card Fraud. My bill was $48, but they charged me $72.70. The manager covered it up by...
Read moreI would NEVER EVER VISIT THIS PLACE AGAIN. The staff workers were pleasant, however the manage of this place was so rude. I normally do not take the time to write reviews, however my experience was so disappointing it was a must. My sister and I visited this place and first of all we had to wait to be seated and was informed other tables had already been reserved. Wait for it.... We received this really small table in which we had barely enough room to eat. Throughout the course of our meal the larger tables we noticed were never occupied by any other customers....hmmm interesting we thought. We did see other people come and sit during the process of us leaving the restaurant. My sister and I asked for the same food bowl which included crab legs, shrimp, mussels, spam (not sausage) and we thought this was quite different, however are in Hawaii. My sister was missing mussels in her bowl and the we both received a bad batch of crab legs that reminds you of photos you would see in the muscle(stringy) of a human body! It was horrible and to think this meal is costing us per person $60 bucks. We complained to the manager and his response was "No one else is complaining" my sister was so upset and stated we did not travel from Tampa and Mississippi to complain and that we were willing to pay for our food, however the food was lacking ingredients/food. Needless to say he agreed to not charge us for the bowl and only for the $10 oysters we each order. We were staying at the Marriott Kapolei and they had a very nice seafood place which is Da Crawfish & Crabshack. You can't go wrong eating here. ...

Now, I will warn you; if you don’t like digging into your food, cracking shells with your hands and getting a little messy, this is NOT the place for you.
Otherwise, get ready for a fantastic feast!! The menu leads you through the process; it’s something like this: Pick your meat Pick your sauce Pick your spice level
We got the lobster combo with white & red sauce-no spice.
They bring you a bucket, bibs, and gloves and your table is covered in parchment paper. Then when your food is ready, they bring it out in bags and dump it on your table 😂😂 And you get Crackin’!!
So yummy 😋
My only regret was that we weren’t able to do the sweet art afterwards (dessert). They called it that and they were not exaggerating. They bring out these colorful sauces and create a wonderful piece of art on the clean parchment paper, and then give you donuts and fruit to wipe it up. A table near us got it, so I was able to see it, but being Gluten Free it didn’t make sense for us to get it. Definitely neat to watch though-how innovative!!
I highly, highly recommend the Crackin’ Kitchen; it’s a fun experience and delicious dining all...
