Leave it up to the marketing gods of Ala Moana Center to quickly turn a vacant space into a lucrative, money-making hot spot. This mall is amazing when it comes to progress.
ATMOSPHERE: The first level of the former Shirokiya is now an indoor/outdoor food court, with 11 stalls located across from Macy's. It's a classier version of the larger Makai Market food court on the street level, with spacious seating and a mix of communal low, high and counter tops, including some covered outdoor seating. Big windows let in lots of natural light and views. Parking lot access is quick, but you have to be lucky to snag such a close stall.

Read moreI couldn't have been more surprised. The are multiple eating establishments to choose from. I had the Steak Souvlaki with saffron rice from "Da Spot". Incredibly delicious along with very generous portions. My husband had a Spicy Ahi poke/ teriyaki chicken bowl from "Ahi and Vegetables" that looked great too. There are cocktail servers that walk throughout the seating area, something I have never seen before in a food court type setting which was a pleasant surprise as well. The restaurants here offered a good option with affordable prices compare to where I'm staying the Modern Honolulu hotel on Waikiki Beach. Selection includes places that serve ramen noodles, Korean, Chinese, and etc... There's also plenty of shopping opportunities near here and it's about a half miles walk from the resorts and hotels on Waikiki Beach.
