Goma Tei used to be 5-stars but the ramen comes out way too quick and not very hot either, nowadays.

ATMOSPHERE: Contemporary décor with a big traditional ramen counter and table seating.

MENU: Ramen (shoyu, tan tan, sunho, and mapo bases,) curries, rice bowls, Japanese apps, and beer.

FOOD: Gyoza Five pieces that are pan fried to crispy & chewy perfection. All ramen shops should take lessons from these guys on cooking. Texture has just as much importance as flavor!

Shoyu Ramen The broth is dark and savory with thin, chewy noodles, and topped with a big piece of charsiu and Chinese broccoli. Good version but I'm honestly more inclined to the version at Ramen Ya, and more so at Ezogiku, which to me has the best tasting shoyu broth I've ever had.

Tan Tan Ramen I'm so glad I ventured out of my box and tried this, which has become my favorite, period. The broth is heavy and filling, and you will feel very stuffed afterward, but it's so delicious that you really won't care. This is what they're known for, and no one does a better spicy sesame broth than these guys. Toppings are charsiu and Chinese broccoli.

Sunho Ramen I felt like I was led astray by the reviews on this dish. I'm a ramen fanatic so I'm always up to trying new flavors but this was horrible. Horrible to the point I tried to eat 1/4 of it and sent it back and ordered a Shoyu version instead. Yes the taste is sour, but that's about it. I didn't experience any "depth" in the broth. It tasted like ponzu with too much vinegar. Not even the perfectly cooked noodles tasted good in this absurdly tangy concoction. If you're wondering if they removed the charge, they didn't, and I didn't expect them to.

RESERVATIONS: Not taken, but the wait can be a bit especially at peak times. There is a sign-in sheet hanging on the front door if there is a wait.

SERVICE: Depending on the time of day, service can be super fast, but at lunch, you definitely see that they're understaffed and multi-tasking. Servers are friendly.

TIP: They've gotten rid of that gross wooden soup ladle/spoon that comes with the ramen and replaced it with plastic. Thank you!

OVERALL: So far, THE best tasting tan tan ramen, but it should be...

Noodles was so good Soup just ok

The kakuni was good melt in my mouth but after eat it I think 3 pieces is to much after finish the second pieces I feel want to puke bc it’s so oily ( maybe it’s ok if u like fatty meat but even I like pork belly but this is way too much for me)

The thing that I really worry about it is after have they ramen 2 hour later I got stomachache and really sure it bc they ramen bc it’s just my first and late meal of that day bc I do the “ 20/4 IF “ And the restaurant smell so stinky , the tables a bit sticky so i think this restaurant not really clean

I love the noodles texture but not gonna comeback again . Hope they gonna be careful more about the cleanliness

The service not bad not special but I don’t like the way that we still eating the food but they try to take our bowl out and ask if we finish our food yet often but we still working on it . If the restaurant busy I understand but it not busy at all and still have a lot of tables available so I really don’t get it hope they didn’t mean to rushing us ( to make it clear I took just 20 min to finish my ramen and pay but I got ask by the server to take my ramen out for 4 times and I still have the noodles and pork in My bowl😂) and I order ramen and white rice bc I want to eat it with kakuni I don’t know why they give me the white rice right away not together with ramen when ramen come my rice cold already so if u wanna do like me make sure u ask for rice and...

Awesome customer service!Okay, they dont actually serve&keep checking on you but what I mean is everyone write down their name and can choose table or counter.I was one person and very busy time so I thought I have to sit at counter, all tables are for 4ppl.But they said I can get a table even for 1 person, just made me feel how they care about each customer not just about money$$.Im a super picky person, the "Karen",so for them to impress me means something.Food was just okay though.Ordered truffle ramen it was$25,not worth it tbh,but I'll come back to try tantan ramen.I dont ever go back to a restaurant if first food I get isn't good no matter how good review is and how many customers there are.But I'd like to give it another shot. Also, while I was waiting I thought of taking out but table opened up.Food came out in container and since it was busy I was just gonna eat out of container box, although it would taste better in a nicer bowl. But the worker asked if I wanted in a bowl&I was hesitant knowing how busy they are,but he said he will go do it in a bowl in such a manner that made me feel comfortable.Yea, I kinda stayed long despite being alone at busy time, which I usually don't do and was planning to leave here early too, but they made me feel comfortable I could...

3.5/5! Came here as it was recommended by a friend, so I had high expectations for this place. But I would say the food I had was just about average. Nothing about the food had a wow factor, but it did taste good. Can't deny that. The Food: I went with the Char Siu Tan Tan Ramen, which is a Japanese style broth with some mild/spicy sesame flavor. Unfortunately, my bowl came out a little bland. I was expecting a nice rich flavor from the bowl and it just wasn't there. The noodles were cooked well, but the broth really let the bowl down. The pieces of char siu weren't as tender as I liked, so that was a little disappointing as well. The Service: The service was great! The staff were friendly and attentive. Water refills were on point! Even with a busy day. The Atmosphere: Plenty of seating, restaurant was very clean. Nice aesthetic on the inside. Overall, a 3.5/5. Ramen I had was just about average, nothing to write home about in my opinion. But it did taste good. I'd still recommend giving this a try, their other dishes looked delicious so maybe next time I'll give it a try!
