I hate to write this, because their desserts have been delicious in the past.
The food isn't the issue, but the service has always been a problem at Jejubing. It took them years to figure out that 6 to 8 person tables limited seating. They finally have better seating options that maximize capacity.
Unfortunately, the new bottleneck is their ability to produce orders. We ordered a bingsu and a refresher waited for 30 minutes. Nothing. We couldn't wait longer and asked for a refund. The manager was quick to refund, which I appreciated.
Granted it was Saturday night and they are busy, but this is a place to grab a quick dessert, not a fine dining establishment. Bingsu should not take much longer than scooping ice cream. Ironically, a fine dining restaurant would have served us in much less time.
Strangely, they installed a kiosk so they could free up labor, but that has seemingly not helped anything. This was my worst visit yet.
I love bingsu, but waiting that long is unforgivable. There are plenty of other delicious treats in Ala Moana so I will not be returning to Jejubing.
Lastly, I don't think this is necessarily an issue with the staff manager, although there are young employees adrift and unfocused, but an issue with the ownership. How do so many obvious issues like seating arrangements, staffing, and service time escape their gaze? It seems like no decision-maker is on the ground assessing this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had one of the worst experiences at Jejubing Dessert Cafe. I waited for 25 minutes while the cashier/server looked completely lost. She didnāt seem to know which order belonged to which customer ā every time a bingsu came out, she would look at the ticket but still couldnāt figure out who it was for. The most ridiculous part is that the store actually gives out buzzers for each order, but they were never used.
There were at least 20 customers waiting, some until closing time, and the whole process was pure chaos.
What upset me most was that I was misled about my own order. I ordered a large mango bingsu and even confirmed with her at least twice. She assured me it was the mango bingsu, and even urged me to pack it up myself quickly. But when I finally ate it, I realized it was only a small size, and by then most of the ice had already melted ā clearly it had been sitting there for a long time. In fact, about 10 minutes earlier I had already seen the exact same bingsu sitting at the counter, but when I asked, she told me it wasnāt mine.
This was a deeply disappointing and frustrating experience, and I definitely will not be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely delicious! I'm not really into any desserts too sweet for my liking and this is just the right amount of sweetness.
I ordered the tiramisu bingsu since I'm a fan of tiramisu. It's covered with cocoa powder, whipped cream and a piece of tiramisu on top. They ask you if you want condensed milk with bingsu, I HIGHLY recommend you get it with the condensed milk.
The texture of the bingsu is like very soft snow. It just melts in your mouth and it's such a lovely texture. The condensed milk adds just the right amount of sweetness to the dish and makes the bingsu creamy.
I took one bite and I couldn't stop eating it. For a dessert, it's not too heavy and its actually quite refreshing. The almonds add a nice texture to the soft ice on the bottom. As the bingsu melts, you get this chocolate milky goodness at the bottom of the bowl.
The portion size is pretty good for one. I ordered the regular. But next time maybe I'll order a large.. its just so delicious! I'll be coming back again. Also, for those with nut allergies they do add almonds to the bingsu, so please let them know to...
