Great place to grab a quick bite or a full meal. My favorite is the ikura mentaiko onigiri/musubi.
I left off one star due to the small amount of filling I've been getting recently. I've held off posting a review to see if musubi filling would lessen and sadly it did. The taste is still great and I haven't found a better blend of Japan and Hawaii musubi cultures.
I do not recommend getting the $8 mentaiko pasta. The serving size is fine, but it has just enough mentaiko for flavor, but not enough that I woiod call it mentaiko pasta. I was quite sad when I ate it, and considered making my review only 3 stars. But one bad dish should not take away from all the other good ones.
The flavors here are great yet not overwhelming, and the combinations of various ingredients into spam musubi are a must try for any spam or musubi lover.
They also have bento that are reminiscent of the old Shirokia that used to occupy multiple...
Read moreThis is my regular stop when I’m at the mall (which means a lot of times). This morning I walked in to purchase my typical mini breakfast bento for $4.48. When I attempted to purchase it suddenly the price was nearly $6! I informed the cashier and other employee that it is marked $4.48 and I’ve always paid that - she then looked at me confused and said the price has changed… what?! Even tho it’s clearly marked at $4.48. If the price did change please change the stickers and reflect the new prices! This is deceitful and also horrible customer service for not honoring it!
Long story short they lost a loyal customer and trust me, I’ll inform all my friends and family about this incident that should not ended this way! It’s not about the actual price that’s trivial to me, but it’s the principle of not honoring what the price is and listening to what the customer is saying.
Go elsewhere! Horrible...
Read moreIyasume used to be on my weekly rotation. Musubi pack which included two musubi's, some microwaved lil smokies, and some pre-made tamago and a miso soup. Their original location on Makaloa was great: high quality rice, good fillings, and a decent sized nori.
Fast forward to today and many locations later, every corner that could but cut was absolutely taken. The quality of the rice is bad (sourcing and cooking), the fillings have shrunken to an embarrassingly small level, and you might as well not include any nori with how chewy and small that piece is anyways. My orders here now are strictly out of convenience, but in that food court, there are plenty of...
