This is my experience when my daughter, girlfriend, and I visit Post for the first time.
First of all, I apologize for not taking any photo of the food.
Second, I apologize for not getting the nice lady’s name. She was the lady who gave us samples and reeled us in. What truly reeled in wasn’t the food, it was the kind and sweet soul the lady had. She was very familiar and comfortable to be around. She kindly explained to us about the origin of the food and restaurant. Everything about her was great! I wish I got to ask her for her name, but one of the coworkers took a photo of us. Hopefully she will remember our faces because I sure do.
Lastly, the food was absolutely delicious. The price was very reasonable for the amount of food and love you’re getting. My daughter is usually a picky eater when it comes to new foods. She absolutely demolished both of our bowls. My family love trying new foods and we’ve been searching for the next food spot for us. We tend to go for something out of our culture and West African( if I remember correctly) caught our attention. The flavors were different from what we are used to, but it was absolutely delicious! I can’t wait to go again! My girlfriend and I have been talking about this place every other day since we’ve had it.
Yalll!...
Read moreI ate here on 7/4 at POST and it was probably one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had. My boyfriend and I spoke with Jennifer about the food as they were giving out samples, walked around looking at the other selections, but HAD to go back for it! They were the only people in POST offering samples with 2-3 people at the front explaining the cuisine and the culture to the customers. This made them stand out BY FAR! Hence why we had no choice but to go back. I was recommended their hibiscus drink which was absolutely amazing (and is great with a shot or two of Gin). Jennifer told us that a brick-and-mortar location will be opening soon (if it hasn’t by now), and we will definitely make a point of going there during every future Houston trip.
Again, I can’t stress enough the elevated atmosphere, the overall kindness and sincerity of the staff, and the shock to our tastebuds at the impeccable flavors of the food and drink.
ChòpnBlok is and will always be the correct answer!
Edit: I ate most of this while my boyfriend definitely ate 5-6 bites and I still was stuffed! I found it was plenty food for me to be content while a second person ate...
Read moreIf you're looking to try west African food, Chopnblok is your spot- you're welcome! I was excited try out Chopnblok (located inside of the newly opened POSTfood hall/market) and it did not disappoint!
I was impressed with the variety on the menu- they have a few staple dishes with a twist. Best of all, I loved that they had mocks of the dishes on display along with samples. I ordered the "Trad" which features jollof rice, chicken, and plantain. I also ordered a side of mini meat pies "minnie pies" to go. Everything tasted so fresh and and the presentation was delightful. I would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone interested in trying our food! Well done Chopnblok.
To drink I ordered some sort of sweet hibiscus juice (not exactly sure but it was DELICIOUS).
The vibe and customer service here was on point and I didn't want to leave. The was super helpful and the atmosphere is beautifully designed. They also display a unique selection of art, books, and more from local businesses in such a thoughtful way. What a great addition to POST. 100% recommend- add Chopnblok to your list. I look forward...
