I went here last night for a Beyoncé event and have mixed feelings.

The ugly: -The line was only about 25 people deep, but it took us 45 minutes to get inside because there was ONE person checking IDs, wanding, and searching bags. This is simply unacceptable for a professional venue. Not to mention, they’d stop the entire line to let 10-20 “VIPS” in at a time. My friend was let in, then they stopped me and separated us for 6 minutes to let VIPS in. Really frustrating and unprofessional and set the night off with a negative vibe.

-The space is much smaller than expected. There’s a front room, a back room, and a bar that’s in the middle and opens up both ways. The bar lines run right into the crowd. There’s no crowd control or organization.

-Drinks $12-16 for a basic liquor and soda. You can’t open a tab - they close every transaction. The tip options are 18%-22%, which I guess is ok, but I know some people would prefer to easily have other options in case of poor service or tipping with card. You can change to a custom amount, it’s just a pain.

The good: -Despite the crowd being muddled together, the bar line went fast. Our bartender was really sweet and poured properly.

-We didn’t go into the exhibits but the actual club room is very cool. Love the industrial feel without it feeling cold/dingy/dark. The lights are super cool!

-I’m not sure if the security inside the venue was hired or on staff but they were awesome and had fun with us while remaining professional and controlling the crowd respectfully during the drag show. They treated us like humans instead of screaming at us like they do at other venues.

-The sound is really good. It’s loud, but not impossible to hear someone talking to you. It felt just right, to me.

-Restrooms were clean! Really, the whole venue was spotless. No trash laying around.

————

Would I go back? Yes, for the exhibits or if there were an event I was SUPER interested in. However, I would arrive when doors first open, not 30 mins later. If I had to wait a long time in a short line again, I’d be done with this place for good. As someone who’s worked in venues since I was 15, there’s just zero...

Poor experience and customer service.

We visited during the 10PM showing (which happened to now not be available) and had a very awkward and bad experience.

One of the installations were completely turned off and lights on as the employee thought it was over and 'no one else was coming.' He explained it to us and told us it would have been cooler if we were able to actually see it. -Other employees were walking around with equipment and boxes as if the exhibit was already over. -Another installation wasn't working and we still had to walk through a creepy room with broken down items everywhere The room with the bar was completely empty and the bar was closed with no one to sell drinks at all. -The Wetland grow room wasn't working the way they wanted and the employee explained how it was supposed to work but it was a poor showing all together.

We understand there are kinks and learning curves to newly opened businesses. However, the customer service should be up to par to allow for second visits since it doesn't cost them extra and they should at least respond to open receive the feedback so they can continue to improve. The level of professionalism just isn't there and the artists who are a part of this exhibit should be made aware of how their work is portrayed.

We sent two emails within the last 2.5 weeks and have heard nothing back. Please improve your processes as the exhibit has potential but will not thrive with this...

January 31 - What a SCAM! Why would you sell tickets for entry times before 2 PM if you do not open before then? I bought tickets for the 11:45 AM entry, got to POST and notice other people who were lost and wandering around too. No one was there to check us in and the exhibit seemed closed. We walked around for a bit thinking the entrance might be located elsewhere and then went to the website to see their opening hours starts at 2 PM.

Waste of my time. Do better if you're going to charge damn near $30 a ticket. I will be filing a charge back on my credit card. I was lucky I waited around for less than 20 minutes before leaving because you do have to pay for parking and anything over 20 minutes is about $5.

See proof photos that they were selling tickets for an 11:45 AM entry time and their website showing that they actually open at 2 PM.

They then coincidentally realize their mess up and emailed me to tell me that the first entry is at 2 PM (see photo attached) almost an hour after the fact to inform me that my ticket is valid for any other time entry. Why would I even want to go back? No thanks. I don't even have the time to go back.

Do not give these people your money. If they are this disorganized to begin with that they can't get something simple correct as selling tickets and the correct time, I can't imagine how messy and disorganized they are...

Art Club offers a cool immersive experience. I think it’s great that you can move through each of them at your own pace, because some of the exhibits were truly mesmerizing. Shoutout to “The Day We Left Field” by TUNDRA. However, some of them were a little underwhelming. As a few others have mentioned, we were not informed of the TWO exhibitions that were down for maintenance. This made the experience seem much less worth it for us, because you still have to pay full price even though you’re not getting full value. I agree with those who recommend purchasing the infinity room ticket, though. That was one of the highlights. I would NOT recommend buying tickets in advance. If you’re visiting the POST, stop by and ask if all of the exhibitions are up before purchasing tickets! Otherwise, maybe not that worth it.

A hidden gem in Houston's creative scene! Art Club HTX is currently hands-down one of the most inspiring and welcoming places in the city. Whether you're a seasoned artist or just discovering your creative side, this space has something magical and otherworldly to offer. The atmosphere, the visuals, the sounds are electric with creativity, the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. You instantly feel transcendence, celebrating past, present and future expression in all its forms. It is artistic expression combined seamlessly with tech. The vibe is effortlessly cool—welcoming, unpretentious. Been here twice and both visits have left me without enough words to describe what I just experienced.
